The Bard and Bonfire

Recommended Posts

There's a certain Shakespeare quote that often comes to mind when I'm reading Bonfire... and I looked up some others and realized "the man was ahead of his time!" So many of his quotes could apply to this place.

And my very Favorite Shakespere quote:

"Marry, sir, nose-painting, sleep, and
urine. Lechery, sir, it provokes, and unprovokes;
it provokes the desire, but it takes
away the performance: therefore, much drink
may be said to be an equivocator with lechery:
it makes him, and it mars him; it sets
him on, and it takes him off; it persuades him,
and disheartens him; makes him stand to, and
not stand to; in conclusion, equivocates him
in a sleep, and, giving him the lie, leaves him."

Of Course the Dead Kennedy’s later rephrased the Porter Spiel from Mcbeth into a simplified statement in the early 80`s.;):D:D
(Not that that has EVER happened to me.:):P:D:D)

What's the one from Much Ado About Nothing, where he's talking about bestowing all of his tediousness on what's-his-name? (Yeah, that's a particularly helpful description, I know.)

I LOVE Dogberry (especially as played by Micheal Keaton!!)

Quote

Marry, sir, they have committed false report; moreover, they have spoken untruths; secondarily, they are slanders; sixth and lastly; they have belied a lady; thirdly, they have verified unjust things; and, to conclude, they are lying knaves.

Dost thou not suspect my place? Dost thou not suspect my years? O that he were here to write me down an ass. But masters, remember that I am an ass: though it be not written down, yet forget not that I am an ass.

And Master, sir, do not forget to specify, when time and place shall assert, that I am an ass.

and the one to which you refer...

But truly, for mine own part, if I were as tedious as a king, I could find it in my heart to bestow it all of your worship.

I think that should be my motto.
