Any oversight or accountability for TSA?

Recommended Posts

For as rude, obnoxious and seemingly careless about portions of their jobs as I've observed on my latest trip, to include TSA casually setting my bag aside instead of running it through the scanner and ensuring it wouldn't make it to the plane on time for my flight, it seems to me that someone needs to watch the watchers.

I mean, when they can essentially, and casually, ruin your traveling experience as part and parcel of their "duties", is there any recourse to be had when you're faced with their aggressive incompetence? :S

You have the right to file a complaint on them if you wish. 9 out of 10 times these complaints are investigated with earnest. I've had several "heart to heart" discussions with them in the past for tossing my bags and leaving them a mess. (SLC) They stopped it straight away when i brought it to their attention. I had the supervisor go with me to the offending officers. That was that.

A few years ago I had some rough experiences with the TSA, mostly with them hasseling me about traveling with my rig, throwing my bags aside or just generally being jerks. I didn't complain then - but I should have.

I've traveled recently - Denver, Kansas city, Las vegas, Salt lake - this time around was pretty good - those TSA guys and girls got their panties out of a twist and were pretty funny.

So, how was the rest of your vacation? :)

It was AMAZING! New Zealand is incredibly beautiful. It's almost too difficult to explain it to someone who hasn't been there. Seriously.

Even though Queenstown is essentially a town focused fairly exclusively on tourism, it's a great base of operations to launch self-drive tours and exploration from. We even drove out past Glenorchy to Paradise and saw where they are currently filming "Prince Caspian", the second film in the Narnia series. I'm working on a McDuck version of a trip report, which I'll post once I'm motivated to finish it.

I'm going back...as soon as possible.:P

As for the TSA, perhaps it was just the LAX crew that soured me.
