Okay, folks, let's try again

Recommended Posts

Okay, here is a thread I hope EVERYONE can participate in, and get something out of. There's been enough tension, pain and just plain crap over the last few weeks. Why don't we recount some great things related to our skydiving experience, be it a person who has mentored us, befriended us or just a memorable experience about the sport. Maybe someone would just like to talk about a fond memory of someone they lost.

I'll start with one of the many awesome moments I have experienced in skydiving. It was the day I returned to my home dz in Beaumont, TX. It was there that I learned to skydive, and earned my A license. Shortly after receiving my A, I moved about 4 hours away. While I was a student there, my instructor almost gave me the "take up golf" speech on three different ocassions. Mainly because I was so terrified.

Anyway, about 4 months after moving away, I returned to the dz with a friend, and we became the first skydivers ever to do CReW at this dz. We did a couple of rotations, and landed a two-stack under the watchful eye of my beaming, former instructor. I will never forget how he looked at me as he spoke the words "I'm impressed." It was a far-cry from the look on his face that I often saw during my days as his student.

This is one of the many moments I will absolutely cherish!

Okay, your turn:)

No shit, there I was... standing on the tarmac at Pacific Skydiving Center in Oahu, just in time for the last load of the day (yeah, it was only 11:00 AM).. the plane taxi's down to the end of the runway and the next thing I know we're at 500' and flying across the North Shore. At 1200' I look out the door to see a pair of humpback whales swimming just below the surface and get this big silly grin... yeah, it's going to be one of THOSE days.
The climb to altitude was fast and before I knew it the door was open ant it's time to go... a quick check below for traffic and to spot the airport and I'm out in the air... one nice slow 360 shows me everything from the North Shore to Honolulu.. green, striated mountains, deep blue ocean, turquois shallows with reefs.. I'm totally blown away by the view as my body hurtles towards the earth below... I continue my slow turn, just taking the whole thing in.. before I know it I'm down to 4K and it's time to pull for a nice leisurely ride back to the dz and a case of cold beer... yes, it was one of those days.... God I love days like that!!
The only naturals in this sport shit thru feathers...

made only one tandem today but that was enough, a jump to reflect upon

the young women has cancer and goes in for surgery this week, she said skydiving was something she always wanted to try and just in case things did not go well ....

the real interesting part of this is that it clouded up and rained in the morning, then blue skies for 2 loads, then solid low clouds again, makes ya wonder why

this is what it is all about

It was a party cloudy day when the DZO at Skydive Aggieland (hi Todd) talked everyone in to doing a 'clear and pull' jump at sunset throught the clouds. We had to jump lower than usual (10,500) since the sun was setting quickly, but I didn't care. It was awesome to play in the clouds, and after doing a slow turn to take in all of my surroundings, I saw Todd and Stan doing some CRW. We all were having fun on that jump. It was a good day to say the least. :)

Please.....I don't wanna go through that again. I had nightmares for months that involved me being chased by ginormous beer cans.[:/]

Theres quite a few which I'm sure is a good thing. My first AFF which went smooth as silk panties. I(much) later found out that my instructors were the chief instructors at the DZ. Probably had something to do with it!

My very first solo jump...longest skydive of my life!! The only thing I did was an(unintentional) front flip on exit, and then a 360 to check everything out. After that I just kept touching my PC handle...:)
Being urged to get my A license because a lot of jumpers at my DZ wanted to...get this...jump with me!! When they made good on their word it made it all the better...

All in all I've had a great and very positive experience everytime I head to the DZ. I'm very fortunate.

As did I, right next to you on your right. Plus, I had the dubious honor of pouring the beer down her...well, this is a family forum and I can't say.

My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

Oh that's right, you're responsible for the load of beercans I had to unload from the back of my shirt. Are you also the one who made an attempt to poor some down my pants? If I remember correctly, for a good part of the ceremony, I had to keep the front of my shirt pulled tight around my waist, to prevent such an invasion. >:( You bad boy!

I have accepted that this pieing will take place, but to make it interesting, it isn't going to take place without a fight. I may be small, but I can put up quite a good one. You had better have your "reinforcements" at the dz when you plan to do this becuase I will run.;)
