JohnRich 4 #1 April 2, 2007 I use Netscape as my internet browser. Lately, I've noticed a message popping up on an information bar at the bottom of the screen, saying that it is connecting to "Google Analytics". It does this every time right after a new screen is presented, and causes a several-second delay. I don't like the response time delays it causes, and I don't like the idea of Google snooping on my web browsing. What the heck is Google Analytics? How did it get in my Netscape brower? Is this something that Dropzone.com is doing? How can I get rid of it? The attached screen image gives an example of this message.
PhreeZone 20 #2 April 2, 2007 This is typically due to the Google Ads that are on some of the pages here to pay for the site. Lots of websites have google ads in them but they are typically only sen if your internet connection is very slow or if the PC is extremely slow.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

ryoder 1,590 #6 April 2, 2007 1. Install Firefox. 2. Install either the Adblock, or the Adblock Plus extension. 3. Add the offender to your blocked URLs. Mine just happens to contain: http://www.google-analytics.com/* 4. Forget about it."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. sangiro 26 #7 April 2, 2007 John, Google analytics has nothing to do with Google Adsense, that serves ads to this site, as Phreezone stated above. You can track AdWords campaigns with it but we do not use AdWords at this stage. Google provides a free site traffic analysis tool that enables webmasters to track their site usage, visits, hits, page load times etc etc. Most (if not all) web hosts track and store this information. We simply chose to use Google's application to analyze our data and send our usage information there when you browse Dropzone.com. You can read all about it here: http://www.google.com/analytics/Safe swoops Sangiro

Are you saying that the newer versions of Windows would circumvent this Google Analytics software? Because I don't think it's related...

Is this temporary then, until you get the information you seek, or will it be permanent? What does Google get out of this free relationship? Are they snooping what we view as individuals, and will it generate more spam e-mail or something?

I just upgraded to a new release of Netscape, and that info bar didn't appear previously. So that's why I'm just noticing it now.
