Big Fun or almost wercked 2x this weekend

Recommended Posts

Ahh this was a fun weekend.

Friday night I was driving with my brother. He is helping me to really learn how to drive my car seeing as how I now have a car with a solid suspension and a manual tranny. We were driving down a really fun curvy road. Coming up to a crest of a hill my brother said something just as I launched my car. Sideways to the left then sideways to the right and then straight back onto the road. Now I know what my son means when he says, "That scared my penis." After that drive I had a big smile on my face.

Saturday during the day I was heading out to the local Dropzone. I was cruzing down the Long Island Expressway when suddenly all the morons decided to slam their brakes because they saw a cop. I had to make a high speed avoidance manuver while hoping that I don't get rolled over by this huge Caddy SUV in the middle lane. Some real pucker factor there. I took the next exit to make sure the cop didn't decide to follow me. Which thankfully I believe the mass of SUV's I was dodging concealed me from his view.

I must have a really big bag of luck, either that or maybe I do have some driving skills

you ever have someone slam on their brakes in front of you at 80mph because they are a monkey. If they were trying to avoid getting tagged by the cop braking at that point was way too late

Sorry, thought you said more than everyone was slowing down not just one person. Generally, i am watching ahead of the car in front of me to see what the traffic is doing so i know when people are slowing down.

Each to their own though, you were there i was not. I have just never needed to weave in and out of traffic that are slamming their breaks on.

Where i come from we generally leave a 2 second gap between the car in front of us and our car so we are able to stop in time if they slam their breaks on. It is actually law in a few countries, 4 seconds if it is wet.

I wish you would explain that rule to some of the plonkers over here as well lol and not overtaking on the inside lane:S

we are allowed by law to overtake on the inside lane in NZ.. Sorry. I actually see nothing wrong with it. I understand the argument against it but it has never bothered me as i got my license by that law. I guess it is just what you are use to.

Yup guess so and i must admit that its the bad drivers here that cause people to weave in and out and sit on other peoples tails. And most dont do well in the rain.

personally like the left turn rule. Only becasue it breaks the on coming traffic and lets you turn right when it is busy. Most people hate it but there is an advantage.. Instead of trying to turn in to the street across the other side the person who is turning down the street on their side ggoives way, it stops the traffic and lets you cross over. Can be good most of the time.

I wish you would tell those morons in the passing lane that it isn't for casual sunday driving....then we wouldn't have to pass you on the inside lane.

I think we've all been in traffic that was moving too fast and was too dense to maintain adequate separation. It's a tough call when your normal size car can't see what's going on up ahead because of all the g-damn SUV's on the road. I drove sports cars for years, so I'm very used to that. I've gotten very good at finding outs, but I'd prefer not to have to.

And all those morons hitting the brakes just because they spot a cop? That's asinine. The funny thing is I see people going the speed limit that slow down to 5-10 under when they see a cop. How unaware can you be?:D
