Gawain 0 #2 April 9, 2007 Probably a good bet. What's the history of other companies he's owned? I've not researched it, but I bet it's an interesting statistic. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! SpeedRacer 1 #3 April 9, 2007 What is interesting about Warren Buffet: IN About february or march of 2003 he issued a statement about how utterly depressing the continued future of the stock market would continue to be: in early Spring of 2003. Think about that. That was the tail end of the Bear Market that started in March 2000. Warren Buffet had long since established his reputation as one of the most influential stock traders. By issuing a pessimistic statement at the Bottom of a Bear Market, he could influence other investors such that stock prices would remain low enough that he could move in and buy them at cheap prices. And then ride the recovery that happened AFTER early spring of 2003. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
SpeedRacer 1 #4 April 9, 2007 Quote"The most common cause of low prices is pessimism - some times pervasive, some times specific to a company or industry. We want to do business in such an environment, not because we like pessimism but because we like the prices it produces. It's optimism that is the enemy of the rational buyer. Gawain 0 #8 April 9, 2007 Well, BNI peaked at 98.66 early this morning. It's since receded, but it's still up about 7%.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Duckwater 0 #9 April 9, 2007 Im thinking he might be posturing for a recession. If there is one, BNI or any other railroad would be a stock to have. We ship a lot of commodities that will not be affected by a recession. Grain, Coal and stuff from China are things people can't do without. We are even putting grain in (what would have been empty) containers to ship back overseas.
