lawrocket 3 #29 April 13, 2006 Quoteoh, you have NO clue... add one more zero and you might feel my pain! Oh, you have no idea. I'll put it this way - I paid more than double in taxes this year than I made in any year of my life until 2002. Trust me, it hurts. I support the Fair Tax. I support the Fair Tax. Made a Reasonable profit but myself and the other partners decided no to pull the profits from the company becase it would have left the company cash strapped. Found out I have to pay Taxes on that money even though I didnt take it. (This was after all company taxes were paid). Now I get to write a $5K check tommorow. To pay taxes on money I didnt get!! Bayouth 0 #38 April 14, 2006 "As soon as I get my W4 I mail that and my investment statements," W4 as in 2 W-2's? No... That would be 2W-4.... And if you solve for W using the FOIL method, you get (2W-2)(W+2) that gets you 2W squared +4W-2W-4.... Um... Uh... Aw, hell.... Never mind.... -- Yeah... I'm the tall one... JohnMitchell 16 #42 April 9, 2007 Got my accountant all over it, making sure I get all my deductions and depreciations, making sure the capital gains crap is all correct. My taxes got too complicated for me to do years ago. Skydiving income, home businesses, kids with scholarships, investments, etc., I couldn't figure it out anymore. Slappie 9 #43 April 9, 2007 Done and mailed... owed $83 this year. I feel good since last year I owed them over $2400! JohnRich 4 #44 April 9, 2007 QuoteMy taxes got too complicated for me to do years ago. Me too, but I struggle through it. I may find out five years later that they don't like what I've done, and by then, with penalties and interest, I'll owe them a million dollars. Just for fun last year, I sent them copies of all my paperwork, and told them it was too complicated for me, asked them to fill out my forms for me, and tell me how much I owed them. They wouldn't do it. They sent everything back and said that they can't do that. The odd thing about that is, if I do it myself and something is wrong, they'll sure as hell find it and ask for more money. So if they can find the time to review my tax forms for errors, why can't they just fill them in for me themselves and get it right the first time? JohnMitchell 16 #45 April 9, 2007 I made more than a few mistakes, one of them which took 2 years and a bunch of letters to resolve. Also didn't get my business deductions correct several times, cheating myself out of more money. It really pays, at least for me, to use a pro. Sounds like you got your withholding pretty well fine-tuned. Still haven't got the verdict on this year's taxes, but she says I should be okay.
