jurgencamps 0 #27 October 12, 2006 QuoteThe cypres is a "simple" device with one purpose. It doesn't have extra crap in there to do things that 99% of people don't need. You said it yourself. You have a neptune, so why does your AAD need to count jumps. I can understand if your a DZO and you are using them in DZ rigs and you want it for accounting purposes, but they should just sell a DZ version that has that crap and keep the device simple. An AAD should have 1 button that you can press to turn it on / off and thats it. Any fancy functionality is in my opinion an added complication that is not needed in a device that should really only be there for 1 reason, to prevent your death. The vigil and the Argus also have only one button. To access the setupmenu you have to push the button a 4th time, so, no extra buttons. BTW your cypres also logs some/lot's of jumpinfo. So the info is there, why not use it? I own a Cypres I, I jump regulary a Vigil (tandem) and I probably will buy a Argus because I like the swoopmode. Now I have the opportunity to chose. Do I take a one mode cypres II, where I have to decide if I take the expert (Pro: normal activation speed in case of a high speed spinner and I'll blackout, ..., contra: high speed, multirotation hookturns) or the speed version (contra, pro = vice versa) or the multimode Argus where I can switch between the expert and the swoopmode? I can choose solution x, somebody else can choose solution y. Gr Jurgen
dragon2 2 #28 October 12, 2006 QuoteI have a cypres 2. I sometimes jump from pressurizable aircraft, and other AAD's sometimes have trouble with transient pressurization. (Specifically Vigils fire, and Cypres 1's turn themselves off semi-permanently.) If you don't jump from such aircraft (jets, C-130's) it's not much of an issue. Argus acts the same as a cypres2 in this situation. ciel bleu, Saskia

USPA 0 #30 October 12, 2006 QuoteTRIED AND PROVEN. Trouble is, second hand cypres I isn't always as easy to find... (and very expensive compared to 3rd generation, but that's not an issue for you)The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...

tbrown 26 #32 October 14, 2006 QuoteI use an organic AAD. Namely my left hand. So is that an Analog Activating Device ? Those work extremely well, down to about 750 ft, after that they may be too slow. And like anything else, they can fail if they're broken (it happens). Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
