Hockey anyone!

Just as long as you're doing your civic duty and getting people out there! What was the team before? I think it was the Flames--or am I confused? Anyway, the good part about having a luke-warm fan base is that you can usually get decent seats. Maybe that's changing by now, though.

Yup, when I find out people have not been to a live hockey game, I'm like oh you are going with me next time and you will like it.
I hope I have this right, but I think Atlanta was an expansion team, not a moved team. I could be wrong.
You can almost always get good seats at phillips, but they can be spensive. I get the college 15 dollar tickets which are upper level. You can see everything from up there though so it's not bad. We usually move down to the ledge seats after we see no one is sitting there. Why waste the goods seats.

No, you're correct. They were an expansion team. But years before, in another era, there actually was another team down there. That's why it could've been the Flames (now Calgary)--but I'm not sure if that's right. Anybody know?

$15 means you can go to a lot of games. Sweet!

We used to have a team called the Knights. I don't think that was a pro team though.

Yup, I went to I believe 20 something games last year and the year before that I think even more.
I don't know how much longer my college id will work though. Not exactly in college anymore:P

The Knights--maybe that's it. I knew there was a team there once upon a time.

Keep up the good work. Just tell them you're an "alternative student," which is what they called me when I went back to law school. That's just a euphemism for "old." It's either something like that, or you're just very indecisive and can't choose a major. The $15 seat is sacred and should not be willingly sacrificed.

It was $10 2 years back, before the lockout. The seats you get are $24, or $36 seats. They also have deal for military people. They sometimes give them the $55 seats for 15. Just so happens I have a military i.d. as well. :)

Those are good prices. I think our cheapest seats are $46 and if there are any deals going, I apparently don't qualify for any of them.

I'm afraid to ask about this military I.D. of yours, so I won't.

Wahoooo!!! Leave it to Shell to dig up the real thing. Thanks! (And I feel better to know that I wasn't going crazy--at least, not about this!)

I get to go to my first hockey game Friday night in Seattle! After having read this thread earlier this month, I'm all psyched up! Plus I get to sit in the box seats which sounds cool- but I do wonder if it will be as much fun as the cheap seats? Any advice for a virgin? ;)

It's when the same player scores three goals in a game. It's tradition that the fans throw their caps on the ice when that happens. A natural hat trick is when the same player scores those three goals consecutively. :)
Just wait until you try to follow the puck. It moves FAST.

Drink beer ... yell at the refs ... have fun. ;)

While the cheap seats may be more fun, the box seats are much more comfy!

Enjoy!!!

You're gonna LOVE it!!!

I like watching hockey games from higher up as I find it easier to see the plays developing. I was fortunate to see Wayne Gretzky play a couple of times from the cheap seats (Winnipeg Arena and the old Montreal Forum) and it was fascinating to watch him and realize what an amazing playmaker he was. It's easier to see when people are open and get an idea of the positional aspects of the game. You don't get that watching on tv as they usually follow the puck and you don't get an overall view of the ice.

Down close is good too, don't get me wrong! B|

Have fun!
