matt1215 0 #1 April 15, 2007 Call me a rebel but for some reason, I like to chill red wine . It just seems a lot more refreshing to me when it's cold. Anyone else like cold red?
skymama 37 #2 April 15, 2007 It's actually supposed to be the temp of a French wine cave, or so I've heard. So that means that it should be chilled a little, I think to about 60 degrees. I'm usually too impatient to bother. matt1215 0 #3 April 15, 2007 I didn't know that. Here I am, trying to be a rebel. Chilling my red, filling the improper glass to the brim; basically throwing all the wine etiquette my mom taught me out the window . Basically going for the wine-equivalent of running with scissors. Turns out I'm not so far out, at least on one aspect.
skymama 37 #4 April 15, 2007 Well, now you can teach you mom a thing or two. Here's something a quick Google search brought up. Lindsey 0 #5 April 15, 2007 Is a French wine cave the same as any ol' cave??? just curious. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail
matt1215 0 #6 April 15, 2007 Sweet!! I'll have to chill some red when I go out to visit next week.
PLFXpert 0 #7 April 15, 2007 I chill all my reds. Geez, I live in Florida! "Room temperature" is 100 degrees!I don't think that makes me a "rebel", though. Just a "southerner".Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
matt1215 0 #8 April 15, 2007 Well, Florida's definitely in 'the South'. Some of my Air Force buddies didn't seem to appreciate my reference to Texas as 'the South' when I was there . In either case, I don't see how you get much further south. I agree that room-temperature is mighty high around here. We'll soon be in the season where electricity is insanely expensive to keep it down, even for an apartment .
SBS 0 #9 April 16, 2007 you should try heating red wine in the winter. pretty darn good. -S_____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

BIGUN 1,483 #11 April 16, 2007 If you have an automatic ice maker in your freezer - fill the kitchen sink about half way with cold water, take all the ice and throw it in the cold water, place the wine in the sink for about a minute. SLightly chilled wine AND new (rather than year old) ice in the bottom of your automatic ice maker. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. micduran 0 #12 April 16, 2007 I have a wine cooler and keep the temp at about 58. Once the red has time to breath the temp is perfect for drinking. It takes only a few minutes to chill the white to good drinking temp.Be patient with the faults of others; they have to be patient with yours.
doug925 0 #13 April 16, 2007 I chill all my reds. I like my wine at 65* or just below. I turned the temperature setting all the way up on my wine fridge. When I want a white(not very often), it goes into the freezer for a few minutes. Doug.I have never developed indigestion from eating my words.
