wildblue 7 #1 April 16, 2007 Any MythTV users here? I'm thinking of setting one up, but all I really want to be able to do is see/transfer stuff my Tivo has recorded. Possible?it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
ryoder 1,590 #2 April 16, 2007 I bought a pcHDTV card ages ago with the intention of trying out MythTV. It is in my multiboot box (Gentoo/{Net,Free,Open,Dragonfly}BSD/Solaris), but I haven't gotten around to actually playing with it."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. okalb 104 #3 April 16, 2007 I am not sure I understand what you are trying to do. You can use TivoDesktop to transfer stuff from your Tivo to your PC and then you can play it on a PC without having to set up Myth. I do that all the time. I am setting up a MythTV environment right now, but only because I want to rip all of my DVDs and be able to play them back on any TV and Myth seems to be the best way for me to do that.Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana
pwln 0 #4 April 16, 2007 MythTV can do a lot of things, but it can be a pain to set up depending on what you want to do. For TV recording I use Snapstream Beyond TV. I have 3 HD tuners and 2 SD tuners and it works like a champ. I don't really keep anything around after I watch it. If I want to keep it, I'll just burn it to DVD and put it in my 400 disc Sony DVD player. For other media (Music, Pictures) I have a Hauppauge MVP with a Beyond TV mod on it. I tried Myth,Sage,Orb, and a few others and I ended up sticking with Beyond TV.

I guess I don't really need another recording device, so I might just grab a MediaMVP http://haupauge.com/pages/products/data_wmvp.htmlit's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
