Thanatos340 1 #26 April 16, 2007 Because the LAW says I cant. Two people cant claim the same child. Even though I pay for more than 100% of her support, She lives with her mother so she gets the deduction. No matter how much money I pay the ex... If the child lives with the EX, The ex gets the deduction for the Dependant and the head of Household and several other Credits. The system sucks. Some people are able to negotiate the "Deduction" into their divorse agreements but generally the parent that the child spends the most time actually living with gets the deduction reguardless of who is actually paying the bills. My other complaint is the they based Child support off Gross income instead of Net income.

DrewEckhardt 0 #28 April 16, 2007 QuoteFor me it would be junk mail addressed to my deceased mother. It's amazing how "they" find forwarding addresses. It doesn't seem to matter to them how many ways you communicate that she's dead. What's yours? Being able to deduct all moving expenses including temporary housing wouldn't make me rich, but it would send me on a really nice vacation. Being able to deduct losses on personal property sales would be nice too. As long as the IRS insists on getting paid when I sell something for more than I paid, they should let me make a deduction when it goes the other way. Guess what.... It's the same in Texas. 20% of gross and 5% added for each additional child, hence why I'm paying 25%.

sartre 0 #33 April 17, 2007 Isn't that considered a capital loss? I think you can deduct that...... And J, WTF? My husband makes more than 70k/year, and I just agreed to him paying me $400/month in child support. Am I an idiot or what?
