Slowfaller 0 #1 April 3, 2007 I read the whole thread about Michele asking for plasma advice and it seems there are a good amount of home theater guys and gals around here which I'm happy to see. Third shift has caused me to be a little obsessive about home theater due to boredom and being alone all day so I've put together something nice in my basement, and it's getting nicer. I pulled the trigger on a SVS pb10-nsd, which will be here Wednesday, to replace my current Dayton sub-120. My brother has the SVS and I fell in love, I can't wait for stuff to start falling off the walls Planet Earth has a lot of good bass I'm told but Saving Private Ryan will be the first DVD I watch. At least the D-Day scene. If anyone would like to see a pic of my setup reply and I'll post a few. --"Someday you will die and somehow somethings going to steal your carbon" -MM

Assuming you have the other components to match, We Were Soldiers is an awesome sound experience (and movie). I've only blown one of my mains on it thus far. I've upgraded to Klipsch Synergy III (F-1s) Sheesh, I'll give it a rent anyway! --"Someday you will die and somehow somethings going to steal your carbon" -MM
Kris 0 #4 April 3, 2007 Nice sub! After Dagny and I move this summer to a house, I'm going to pick up the 15" version of the below-linked bad boy, a 500 watt plate amp, and put it in a 4 cubic foot enclosure, tuned to 20Hz. normiss 898 #8 April 3, 2007 NOICE!!! I have a 10" Velodyne that I just love! Powered with a mono 250 watt NHT amp. The rest of my speakers are all NHT surround sound stuff...pushed from a Yamaha 3000 receiver - only 6.1 with no network but it rocks the neighborhood! Another fine add - Aura bass shakers http://www.smarthome.com/8249p1.html also powered by a NHT 250 watt mono amp...I like to put one bass shaker in each piece of furtiture in the living room...you KNOW when something hits the bass with those babies in the furniture! livendive 8 #9 April 3, 2007 QuoteFeel the action through your chair or car seat with a bass-enhancing seat shaker ... When properly installed, the Bass Shaker causes the area it's mounted upon to resonate and vibrate with the dramatic intensity of deep bass, so you'll feel a deeper connection to your favorite movie or video game. Umm...I bet it's a "deeper connection"! Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
normiss 898 #10 April 3, 2007 that's what the ladies say! The first time an explosion goes off...the look on a woman's face when the bass shaker kicks in is interesting to say the least. Tactile transducers will help a lot with bass...less power, smaller size, doesn't piss off the neighbors! http://www.clarksynthesis.com/ http://www.thebuttkicker.com/LFE_home.html http://www.practical-home-theater-guide.com/bass-shakers.html

My room isn't that big (19ftx12ftx8ft) and is pretty much sealed since it's a basement. The door shuts at the top of the steps so I'm sure the SVS will take care of everything It's coming this afternoon. Did I mention I live in a townhouse? Actually I've talked to my direct neighbors and even tough they've admitted to hearing my system occasionally, it's never been a problem for them. They both have my phone number and are instructed to call me if noise is ever a problem and neither of them have so I think it's all good. They wouldn't wave 'hi' to me if I was a neighbad. Couple pics because I like looking at pics. I haven't read a book without 'em in twenty-five years! 1. Screen shot of Casino Royale blu-ray disc running on the PS3. 1080p 2. Same screen shot with lights on and different angle. 3. Shot of 24" grow lamp I placed behind my TV. All of my speakers handled it well at -17 on the receiver where reference is zero. --"Someday you will die and somehow somethings going to steal your carbon" -MM
