Flying with a small dog

Recommended Posts

So I have a 4lb Min-pin puppy and I am supposed to be flying out to Dallas next month. I have heard that you are allowed to bring them as carry-on. I was just looking for any help in planning this. She is my first pet and I don't ever fly commercially so the whole thing is totally new to me. Thanks for the help!

Call the airline and make sure you can bring him. Airlines usually have a limit to the number of animals allowed in the cabin. When I flew with my dog a few years ago, Delta allowed only 2 pets so I had to reserve my dog's slot (I also had to pay $45). Some airlines won't allow pets though so definitely call to be sure.

What she said, and you'll need to add time to your check in, and security delays also.

oh, and hope that the climb/decent doesnt affect its ears and it starts whining/barking. Others will mostly want to strangle you for that. [:/]
Good luck.

Thank you! Yeah, I will talk to the airline and I have already talked to my vet and was told that she (my vet) may give us some doggy valium to help keep my puppy calm.

Thanks, this is all a huge help!

My experience was that my dog was calm and quiet once we were in the air. Waiting around for boarding was a another story. She thought there was way too much action going on around her and that I was being so mean not to let her out of her crate.

Good luck!
