bloody_trauma 2 #26 October 7, 2006 theres prolly already a post on it somewhere, aside from body position what makes a person go faster or slower based on thier body type and what they wear. like will a heavier person fall faster than a lighter person, that sonds crazy to me as objects fall at the rate of speed right. i do know that wearing something bulky makes you fall slower, so to fall faster you would have to reduce you BSA and make so that the air moves more smoothly past you. i dont have an instructor to talk to for 1000's of miles so im jsut trying to get a baselineFly it like you stole it
NWFlyer 2 #27 October 7, 2006 The primary things that affect fall rate are weight (body weight, rig, any weights you might be wearing) and drag. Drag can be affected by two main things - body position (how much air are you "catching" with your body?) and clothing (suit design plays a big part - heavier people generally go with baggier suits or suits with wings, and a heavier fabric, designed to help slow them down. Lighter people often wear the tightest, slickest design in order to streamline them so they can fall faster). That's the basics. There are a lot of subtleties around both body position and suit design, but that's the key stuff."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
ntrprnr 0 #28 October 8, 2006 Quoteanyone ever wear under armor in freefall or otherwise and what did you think of it, it came to me to maybe wear it to streamline my body. Love their stuff. Discovered it as a runner, and use it while jumping. From armless t-shirts to long sleeve turtlenecks. Good stuff. A bit pricey, but I like the way it fits. For long winter runs, you can't beat their sweat-wicking capabilities._______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
