Peej 0 #2 October 2, 2006 My advice, which i know some people will disagree with... You have 15 jumps at this stage and any container/canopy combination that you buy will be quickly outgrown, not physically, but ability wise. For example, you'd probably end up buying a canopy in the 235 range now but later on you could be on a 190 or a 170 (i haven't worked out your wl, these are just examples). My advice would be to buy your peripheral gear now, a helmet, some goggles, an alti, a jumpsuit, dytter, etc. And focus your funds on getting your jump numbers and in air skills up. Do like 50 quality RW jumps, get coaching, do some tunnel time if you have one nearby, then start looking for gear. By that stage you will have progressed down through the "student" size canopies and will be ready to buy one that you can put another 200 jumps on. JMO, ymmv. Good luck. yardhippie 0 #3 October 2, 2006 Talk to your instructors about gear selection for your skill level! Get to know your fellow jumpers and ask their opinions on rigger selection. Find a rigger who you can trust and communicate. The reason I say this: Instructors are great sources of information and advice on how to keep you safe and using gear for your skill level. Fellow jumpers all have preferences on who packs their reserve/maintains their gear. Its their lives in that riggers hands, so, they will trust those people. A rigger should be able to talk to you about fit, functionality, future work, and safety. The key to all is safety. Skydiving is a tight community. We look after our friends as best as possible, and IMHO the best place to start making friends is right there at your DZ. blue skiesGoddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #
