TrophyHusband 0 #1 April 24, 2007 i have two fish that are sick. the are covered in little white spots. i took them out of the big tank and have them in their own little ten gallon tank. i've been changing out half of the water every day and giving them fungus, parasite, and ick medicine. they seem perkier, but after several days they are still covered with little white spots. any suggestions? Lindsey 0 #2 April 24, 2007 I'm no fish doctor, but I think they're gonna die. But maybe you're better with fish than I am....-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail
sharimcm 0 #3 April 24, 2007 Sounds like they have ick. Go to a specialty pet store and ask for ick remover. My betta had ick when I first got him, but I felt like he could pull through. Four months later, I still have him, and he's just as happy as a betta can be. matt1215 0 #6 April 25, 2007 I'd lay off on the water-changes. Changing half the water means a lot of fluctuation in chemistry/temperature, esp if you're doing it every day. It can put a lot of stress on the fish, then you have a much bigger problem than ich or fungus (death). When I used to quarantine a fish from my 30 gal to my 10 gal, I'd fill the 10 mostly from the 30, maybe 3 or 4 fresh gallons. I'd give them their meds and let it do its job for a few days

Your doing good just dont change the water so much, its white spot and they should be ok if your treating them with the right stuff, maybe you should treat the other tank as well, give the filter a good clean.``````````````````````````````````` " Cant keep a good woman down " Angels have wings, but devils can fly ! TrophyHusband 0 #8 April 25, 2007 i did treat the big tank first and all of the other fish got better. these two were by far the worst and the ick hasn't cleared up. i've been using the medicine from walmart, but i'll bet something different next time i go to boise. BelskyBlueEyes 0 #9 April 25, 2007 This was a link to just one of the many sites that came up when I did a search. http://www.animalhealthcare.ca/contents/content.asp?id=218&cat=Exotic I think you should Petsmart or a pet store near you, or a place that specializes in fish (yes they do exist) not Wal-Mart. Some where that you can get real advice. I don't know how expensive these fish are, but I knew a guy that had a beautiful tank of fish and coral and it somehow got contaminated and he lost all of it. Cost him about $1000. It took about 3 weeks for everything to slowly die, it was actually pretty sad. Anyway, good luck to you.
TrophyHusband 0 #10 April 25, 2007 you're right about walmart not being the place to go, but its the only thing we've got here. the petco in boise has a couple people very knowledgable about fish, so we'll stop in there. these fish were $15 each, making them by far the most expensive fish we have. this is our first aquarium so we don't want to spend a lot on fish until we actually know what we're doing.
