lekstrom10k 0 #2 April 24, 2007 The movie was in reference to the biggest hoax ever played on the world by the Beatles. They had people smoking banana peels with directions on how to cook them and smoke the residue. No one would admit they never got high and all said "LIKE WOW MAN BITCHING STUFF MAN". They all kept the hoax going for fear of peer pressure Bet the Beatles are all still laughing every time they see a banana even in heaven for the two. lawrocket 3 #4 April 25, 2007 George Martin actually composed the score. I'd never thought he had the talent, but it's actually soem pretty good music. My wife is hotter than your wife.

No the smoking banana peel thing happened to Donovan with his song Mellow Yellow. A couple years ago he was touring & I heard the interview with him on NPR. Basically, he just wrote this song Mellow Yellow that had the line "Electrical Banana" in it. To Donovan it was just an amusing little bit of imagery. Then later people approached him & said his line was about getting high smoking banana peels. He had no idea where TF this came from. Until in the 80s or 90s when Country Joe McDonald approached him and said "Hey man, it was me!" Apparently Country Joe and the Fish were touring back in the 1960s in this big van. Back in the 1960s the really popular dessert was a Banana Split. Some ice cream shop had closed down and the building was torn down, including the giant fiber glass banana from the roof. Country Joe & the Fish found it & mounted it on the roof of their van. Soon afterwards they were all being interviewed on a radio show & they talked about it. And just for the hell of it one of them said you could get high smoking banana peels. The urban legend started, and when Donovan's song Mellow Yellow came out with the "electrical banana" line in it, everyone (except Donovan, who had no clue) thought he was talking about getting high from banana peels. Evidently in some circles the same thing got attached to "Yellow Submarine". But the urban legend all began with country Joe and the Fish and their van with the giant banana on the top.
