FlyingJ 0 #1 April 28, 2007 I managed to run over my 6 year old iPod with a tractor, and the iPod came out on the losing end of that encounter, so I just picked up a new one. I would love to be able to start ripping some of my DVDs. Curious what folks are using for DVD ripping/converting. I saw a couple older threads, but this technology changes so frequently I thought I'd start fresh with this one. I'm on a PC (for now). jason.Killing threads since 2004. diverds 0 #2 April 28, 2007 I use Videora. Free and works great. Don't know if it will rip from DVD but once you have an avi or mpeg file it will convert it to the video iPod format from there. Videora iPod Converter Skydive Radio

Well when you move to Mac Jason you could use mac the ripper. This is a good fast ripper. Then use mpeg straem clip to convert the vob files to iPod format whcih is mp4. I find the convertor in iTunes too slow. Hope it helps www.myspace.com/durtymac
FlyingJ 0 #5 April 30, 2007 Thanks everyone. I haven't downloaded anything yet, mainly because I'm afraid my P3/700 pc will just crash. In a few different forums online I've read about a lot of the dvd ripping taking hours upon hours on machines WAY better equipped than mine, so I'm a bit hesitant. Picking up a new Mac is definitely in the plan, but more of a long range plan at the moment. The Mac is on a wish list along with Lasik surgery and a motorcycle, so it's got some pretty stiff competition. Keep the suggestions coming if you use anything different than what has been mentioned. I'm sure I'll give it a try sometime soon, but at the moment I realized that I really don't have any use for watching a full length movie on my ipod! Now I've shifted gears over to trying to find good podcasts to subscribe too.Killing threads since 2004.
