Dance/Trance/Electronic FYI

I grew up listening to metal, hardcore, and punk music; and I grew sick of hearing "Dude, all that music sounds the same, it's all "duhn, duhn, duhn, scream, scream, duhn duhn.""
Then in the late 90's my mind and ears became open to electronic music.
Then all I heard from people was "Dude, all that music sounds the same "pfft, psst, pfft, psst, pfft, psst, pfft, psst..""
My answer to them has always been that they are not listening to the music, but only hearing it.
You have to keep in mind that the people who are completely closed minded about different types of music are the same people who watch and vote for American Idol, listen to country music, and are perfectly happy listening to nothing but the radio.

Long live non-radio music!!!!

:DAmerican Idol is just karaoke IMO..Bring Back the MousekaTEARS! *sarcasm*

I recommend Paul van Dyk, "Global". DVD + CD is $14.99 at amazon.com; at that price you can't go wrong!

Also, if you are seriously interested in making sense of Trance, Eurodance, Acid, Tribal, Ibiza, Epic, Nu Style, Goa, etc. etc., I suggest visiting http://www.di.fm/edmguide/edmguide.html

That is seriously the best guide to electronic music styles I have ever seen. And the author really describes the music and it's origins in a funny and knowledgable manner. I would suggest that link to everyone from the beginer to the electronic music "pro". I though I knew alot about electronic music but this site really makes the history and evolution clear with lots of examples of the different types of music.

Anyone interested in electronica should check this site out.
