Slappie 9 #1 May 2, 2007 . . .to work in a cubicle farm? I've been in an office for so long I dunno if I can swap it for a cube. But $16k a year can make a man do a lot of things he didn't think he would do. pinkfairy 0 #2 May 2, 2007 Completely open is OK too. Just don't do anything on your computer that others shouldn't see. But nothing's secret in computers anyway. At least not for the system administrator. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you? Ok lemme rephrase it: A $16k raise over my present salary, will make a man do things he didn't think he would do. Slappie 9 #7 May 2, 2007 Haven't had the interview yet, it's this coming Tuesday. I'm pretty confident though seeing as my resume was hand delivered to the VP of Logistics, he sent it to HR to do the HR things. Now I'm being called back by HR to have my preliminary interview with him. Basically just going through the motions. I HOPE! At least not for the system administrator. In my last job in cubicle world, most of us had those little stick-on mirrors that are attached to the sides of the monitors, so we could be alerted to movement behind us because all computers are situated with the screen facing towards the aisles. Plus if you're doing something other than work, there's that nifty Alt-Tab to pull up your work screen quickly with your left thumb and birdie finger. That is kind of how I got my new, month or so, job. Which came with a good raise, not as good as 16k, but close. Good luck!!!Skymama's #2 stalker -

sharimcm 0 #13 May 2, 2007 The only thing I didn't like about working in a freakin' box was EVERYONE could hear your (and your co-workers) conversations. I got SO tired of listening to the pregnant girl next to me explain to her friends exactly how she got pregnant... Like what position, how long they were going at it... Gawd! It sucked... But, good luck if you get the job. It might not be that bad... They've since moved and upgraded everything. The Cube walls are supposed to be higher now. The cubes are arranged to not allow anyone a direct view of you or your desk from theirs. I really think the only thing that's got me is this losing my office. I like my office!
