Another, "I had a dream," thread

Recommended Posts

Had a dream last night I went to my home DZ in New Mexico. It was only one other jumper and I, and we did 5 jumps together, all of which were magically sunset loads (gotta love dreams).

But they were not fun at all! My first jump was with my rig, with my Spectre 150. I had a lump of crap for a canopy at pull time, and a few lines got wrapped around my foot. I went to town with my hook-knife, and came out okay.

We landed and hooked up another canopy. I never even bothered to ask what it was or even what size. Second jump, I pulled and right away noticed I was jumping a fully elliptical canopy, what I would guess to be in the low 90's ish as far as size goes. Also, the line set was incredibly long for some reason... easily twice as long as they should be

I didn't really worry about it, and just flew it conservatively. But any toggle input, at all, put me into a ridiculous dive. I made a 90 onto my final approach around 500 feet, and the canopy never recovered from the turn. I bounced hard enough to turn my entire body into mush, but being a dream, I really did 'bounce' up about 1000 feet back into the air. I didn't make any more turns, and landed flawlessly with a perfect flare.

This same battle with the canopy went on for the last three jumps. I never got it to work, and never thought to use another canopy or rig.

I don't remember anything about the skydives... just that every single jump was at sunset that day. It's as if I would 'land,' and then walk to the plane with the magic pack job. I woke up physically stressed out this morning!
It's all fun and until someone loses an eye... then it's just a game to find the eye
