BillyVance 35 #1 May 9, 2007 Breyer's yogurt that's 6 days past the expiration date still good to eat? It's sitting here in front of me, all churned up with the fruit pulled off the bottom and mixed. I'm the kind of guy that chucks milk that's even one day past the exp date. Sour milk is fucking gross. Just wondering if yogurt is the same way... towerrat 0 #5 May 9, 2007 That is actually the sell by date if I'm not mistaken, so it should still be good. If it smells bad then there's your clue. Its a "sell by" date, not an expiration date. Dairy products like milk are dated so that they should be fine for a week or longer beyond the "sell by" date. I routinely drink milk a week beyond the marked date and I cant remember the last time I had it until it went sour.__ My mighty steed

The dates assume that it will be kept at the proper temperature. If it went south right after the marked date then they didn't store it at the proper temp. You might wanna shop somewhere else Tennessee maybe? __ My mighty steed

I have been buying Barber's lately because it keeps well, but I've tried my best to use it up by the date. The little girl however, is a milk whore. She goes through a gallon in just a few days! monkycndo 0 #22 May 9, 2007 It also depends how long dairy is stored before it is opened. If you open it as soon as you get home, it can get funky by the sell by date. If you open it on the sell by date, it will still be fine. A friend told me one way to make yogurt last longer is to never lick the spoon and put it back in the container. That puts some of the bacteria in your mouth into the container. Supposedly, it can make it good bad faster. Never did a test to confirm.50 donations so far. Give it a try. Sour milk is fucking gross. Just wondering if yogurt is the same way... After working at a grocery store for about 8 months stocking shelves... you learn about those dates. Most dates are sell by dates, not expiration dates. They can remain on the shelves until then, therefore, the food items are usually good past that point. I'd say there's probably nothing wrong with the yogurt unless it's been opened for a while. Once a product is opened, the life span of that product is shortened. If it was a sealed container you're fine. If it was opened... go with your nose. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.
