airdvr 210 #1 May 10, 2007 For awhile now there's been a funny smell coming from my fridge. No...it's not rotten food. I've completely emptied it and cleaned it out. It's more of a chemical smell. If I knew what refrigerant smelled like I could say it was leaking. But it's been like this for over a month now so I would think that the refrigerant would have leaked out completely by now. Any ideas? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
keka 0 #2 May 10, 2007 if you've cleaned and can not find where it comes from... I would suggest you to get a box of Baking soda (you can get at Walmart for a buck or less) and leave in the fridge for 3 months. it helps with bad odors.http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org PMS#551 I love my life :)
yardhippie 0 #3 May 10, 2007 Is it inside or outside the fridge? Most units have catch pans both inside and outside the units. These can collect water/food ect. When that stuffs goes off, you get a smell. if it was refrigerant leaking, it would not cool well, and eventually quit cooling completely. Freon has a strong smell too, and it would become more pronounced when the unit kicked on (most likely).Goddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #
