Hans 0 #27 May 18, 2007 We put 18 max in our Grand Caravan. In the summer I only put 16 for turn around time unless we have hop and pops. Caravans can hold 15 with the right paperwork. When we flew the Dash 20 Porter it would be 9 max for comfort and climb rate. Dash 27 or 34 can take 10. The Farm

jcecil 0 #29 May 18, 2007 DHC-2 Beaver = 8, or 9 on a cold day with someone sitting in someones lap, preferably without a full load of fuel. And you even have time to take a nice nap on the way to altitude :-D
lekstrom10k 0 #30 May 18, 2007 There are 3 caravans. C-208 , GC-208 CM-208. We have a cargo-master 208 with most of the grand -caravan windows installed. It's legal for 21, we dont fly it that way on our DZ though. We jumped a KC-130 stretch at Quincy with 208 . very crowded. "Get in sit down" . The mere fact someone was sitting on your nuts to bad until hot run. We did a 16way out of 2 C-182's and a C-180. Zing can tell you about 8-ways out of a CU-206 in MI uears ago.. It's still flying today in Saginaw.. PS C-208 was also the designation of the stretched C-207 for a while
jakee 1,564 #31 May 18, 2007 We've got a C-208B Grand caravan at our DZ. I've been in overloaded aircraft before but I don't see how it would be possible to physically fit 21 people in one - and as far as I can tell the cargomaster doesn't have a larger cabin?Do you want to have an ideagasm? lekstrom10k 0 #32 May 18, 2007 Does yours have the straddle bench seats? People smarter than us convinced FAA it was possible, and there isnt anybody more negative than FAA.Is your co-pilot seat facing rear? One more jumper.

You've got be careful how you overload the Caravans. They are susceptible to stalls... I'll never forget that day at Gold Coast where a big way was setting up for exit, I think 12 way, all crowded in and outside the door. The tail dropped 4 or 5 feet as they went through the count and my jump mate (we were doing CRW after them) told me the stall warning siren was blazing. The tail snapped back up as the group exited and banged my head on the ceiling.
