She wants to be his friend, and has told him she wants nothing more, but has done it in a friendly way. She has come to the conclusion that if he really is a true friend, that he won't hold it against her if she wants to be with me, which she has since declared. As far as being the fRagrant asshole... all I can say is a week of studying for finals and late-night posts... L's and R's start to be the same letter.
