skymama 37 #1 May 23, 2007 Since my son is headed down the path of the life of crime after his stunt at Universal, I figured I had better redeem my reputation as a mother and brag about my daughter a bit. She graduated from High School yesterday. Getting her through her school wasn't easy. She was diagnosed with ADHD in Kindergarten and has struggled the whole time. Through much frustration, tears and determination from the whole family, we helped get her through. It was so iffy in the beginning, especially when she got 7 referrals in the second grade, my dad just told me to get her through high school without being a drug addict or pregnant and anything else is a bonus. So for all of you dealing with ADHD kids, there is hope. Stay determined and do everything you can to help them focus. She's been on the Honor Roll all year, will graduate with a GPA over 3.0, and has SAT's high enough to get into most colleges. She's agreed to save us a little money and will go to the local Community College for now before transferring to a University. She's going to school to study to be a Kindergarten teacher. She'll find out someday what it was like to teach a kid like her. Payback is hell! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

PikzeeVikzen 0 #8 May 23, 2007 That's awesome. I know how proud you must be. I also know the struggle she had. My husband and I both have ADD and I worry my son will have the same affliction. I can't imagine what that would be like if you added the hyperactivity to you. Rock on Skymama! You are a strong woman! I love that she is going to teach kindergarden. I think she will be able to keep up with the kids! I'm the twist that turns your key....

guppie01 0 #13 May 23, 2007 Way to go Alix!!!! CONGRATS! Andrea, I was shopping for grad cards last night for my niece.... there was one card in particular that had 4 young girls (about 8-10) dressed in cap and gown all holding diplomas with GREAT BIG smiles on their faces. When you open the card it read "this is what your parents see today!" I can't imagine the joy and elation you are feeling, but I'm sure you're smiling just as much as she is!!!! Have a drink to yourself tonight! g"Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" Raddest Ho this side of Jersey #1 - MISS YOU OMG, is she okay? Lindsey 0 #16 May 23, 2007 Congratulations on the graduation! What an accomplishment it is to rear 'em to actually be responsible young adults (well....almost). I'll be holding my breath on mine for a few more years, but so far so good. And about Nick....I missed that drama. Guess I'm gonna have to do a search now. linz-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. Given her problems with academics, I can understand why that perma-grin was there; and I can imagine it only partially eclipsed yours! Congratulations to the both of you. Its only fitting that your daughter succeeds in her goals because she has such a strong mother backer her in her decisions. I only wish my mom was as dedicated as you are.
