monkycndo 0 #26 May 22, 2007 For showering with the cast, I used a 13 gallon trash bag that had the draw string closure. Made it easy to get it pretty tight. I reused it at least 25 times. Yes, I'm that cheap. And got one more use out if it to haul out the trash. I wrapped a hand towel over the top of the cast to soak up any minor water that leaked in. Works like a charm. The handheld shower head is a must. You can direct the spray of water so it doesn't go right towards the cast. I didn't shave my legs before I got injured, and I saw no reason to start. Sorry, no help there. I wore clothes with big pockets to haul drinks, snacks and cell phone. I even got my big 7-11 type cup into one of my pairs of PJs. To carry food, I used a huge coffee cup/trough. I could grip the handle and still use the crutches. It worked great until just broke while sitting on the coffee table. I also got really good at using my crutches without any hands. It looked funny, but it worked. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. adventurechick 0 #27 May 22, 2007 QuoteSo... are you going to share what actually happened? What the full injury was? Estimated time of recovery? Details girl. Ok, here's the story :o) The Actual Wreck Number the lanes on the interstate 4, 3, 2, 1.... 4 being the fast lane and 1 being the slow lane. I was driving in lane 1 (the slow lane). I tried to merge into lane 2. There was another care in lane 3 trying to merge into lane 2 as well. We almost collided, I saw them, and overcorrected my steering wheel to the right to miss them. I did miss them, but I then started doing 360's across lanes 1, 2, 3, 4, and hit the concrete wall separating 408 east/west head on by the fast lane. I then screamed like no other and got myself out of the car by scooting on my butt out the passenger door. I didn't hit anyone and I was the only one in my car, and I should have not lived through this accident. Full Injury and estimated time of recovery I broke the Talus (apparently the worst bone in the body to break) and the Maleolis (sp??). There is nothing you can do for a Talus injury except not put an ounce of weight on it and right now my recovery time is minimum 12 weeks before I can put an iota of weight on it, that is if my bone doesn't die (osteoneocrosis). I also went through surgury and have 5 pins and a metal plate in my foot as well. I also have stitches in my right knee and a nice gash there.
