Are You A "Spoonie?"

Recommended Posts

I collect those cute little decorative/commemorative spoons everywhere I go. :)
This is just a small sample. I have several dozen more of them in a box....if I could only remember what box they're in. [:/]

So? Are you a "spoonie" too? :D

I used to be.... When I was a lil girl, I'd have my mom steal spoons that I'd like from restaurants - yes, I was that spoiled!!!

I think I threw most of them away when I moved to Cali. I was tired of packing them after 5 moves... B|

Yeah, I had those too.... but I LOVED all sorts of spoons, and if I saw one I'd have to have it!

I had this really cool one from a coffee shop in Okinawa shaped like a musical note (my mom actually paid for that one). The coffee shop had a room that was wall to wall speakers and they played classical music (loved that place) - so it was fitting.

I've never been outside of the United States, but if when I do.....I'm sure there will be enough spoons in my luggage that they'll want to do a security check on my luggage because it's so heavy! :$

:o I can't believe she gave back something that you gave to her.

My kids have never bought any for me. But they'll still have to pry them out of my cold, stiff fingers when I die! :D

I don't have anything that old, obviously! ;) But maybe one day, my kids will have my collection on THEIR walls! Or better yet...maybe my granddaughter Emily! :)

My mutti likes spoons. I have two of her spoon rings, which are sterling silver and have these intricate designs in them. I don't wear jewelry often, if ever so I haven't worn them since high school. But, I still love them. They're so unique.:)
I also have a tiny spoon & fork with my birthdate, time, height & weight engraved on them in a little hand-painted teacup. I have that on the armoire in the master bedroom.

The only thing that's annoying is polishing.[:/] I don't collect anything that requires work:D--except my orchids but it relaxes me & I get great pleasure from caring for them. My mom doesn't mind polishing her silver at all and takes pleasure in that. She has many spoons like you.:)

Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Yeah, I've had some of my spoons for a while and up until recently, they were in an unprotected, doorless rack. So now I'm going to have to find a safe, non-scratchy way to clean them. [:/]

I have this polisher I bought at Stein Mart a LOOOONG time ago. I used to wear a lot of silvery jewelry in high school. I still have all the nicer pieces--most of it's turquoise which I still love.

I like this polisher thingie (don't know what to call it) b/c I can literally dump everything in this canister filled with a liquid, wait 20 seconds, then lift up the strainer thing from the middle and all my pieces are beautifully polished. Then you just rinse in warm water and either let them dry or dry them with a soft cloth.:)

Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Is it electric? Or just liquid? I looked at Walmart, but all I found were cleaning compounds, which I was afraid would scratch.

It's not electric. Just liquid inside a plastic container lined with a strainer and has a handle to pull the strainer out.

There's one for gold, and a different one for silver. They come in different sizes. I bought the large which holds everything at once.:)
I've had both of mine for several years now. I don't know if you're supposed to replace them every so often, but they still work fine so...

If I remember correctly, they were only about $10 each.:)
