floridadiver81 0 #1 May 29, 2007 So i had a laptop on ebay to sell. The auction lasted three days. It ended last night. So after it ended i get an email from ebay saying that the listing was completely removed because something with the high bidder account and it being used without the account holders knowledge. This is the message i got from ebay: Dear navyromeogls (floridadiver81@dropzone.com), The results of the following listing(s) have been cancelled due to bidding activity that took place without the account owner's authorization: 180122821374 EMachine Laptop 1.6GHZ/512RAM/DVD Burner We have cancelled the listing(s) to maintain the integrity of the eBay site, your account, and the bidder’s account that was accessed. We are working to restore the bidding account to its rightful owner, and we are working with the account owner to prevent any additional unauthorized activity. Since the account owner did not initiate these bids, all fees resulting from the listings in question will be credited to your account within 7 days. If you do not see the credits posted to your account after 7 days, please feel free to contact us through ‘Contact Us’ in our Help section. There was more to the message...but nothing pertaining to the auction itself. Then i get this message....from the supposed seller....in NIGERIA: Dear Seller, I am happy to be the lucky winner of your item.I have read and known the description of the item before i bid on it and sorry for not informing you before i do so. I will be shipping the item to my client in West Africa (Nigeria) and i will be making the payment via PayPal with USD 100 for shipping cost via USPS/EMS .Kindly get back to me with the shipping tracking number of the item as soon as you receive the confirmation of my payment via PayPal so that i can update my client that the item has been shipped. Here is the shipping address below: Name:Matthew Orimolade Address: No 35, Abimbola street. Odo-Ona,Apata State:Oyo City:Ibadan Country:Nigeria Zip Code:23402 Firstly...he names do not match up. Secondly..sending 100 dollars when the shipping i listed was only 20??? Even if i did send it internatioal the shipping would not be that much. And thirdly the state that they are buying it for someone else....yeah right. And now i get a bogus email from paypal saying that i was paid for the item...but yet al the links that are supposed to go to paypal link to a site "www.email.com". Not one link in that email goes to where it is supposed to be. Moral of this...even sellers can get screwed over ifyou dont have the knowledge of what to look for specifically. Let this be a lession to everyone. Make sure you verify every step of the transaction...not just just the payment part. In this case i was sent an email from a bogus email account pretending to be paypal.
