boinky 0 #1 May 30, 2007 When I first started learning to skydive, I was NOT a model student. I had a lot of fears and issues that most people probably don't have. This song was my encouragement a lot of the time. I think I even had them use it on one of my jump videos. How about you? Did you have some motivational song that kept you going when your spirits were flagging? I Believe I Can Fly! I used to think that I could not go on And life was nothing but an awful song But now I know the meaning of true love I'm leaning on the everlasting arms If I can see it, then I can do it If I just believe it, there's nothing to it [1] I believe I can fly I believe I can touch the sky I think about it every night and day Spread my wings and fly away I believe I can soar I see me running through that open door I believe I can fly I believe I can fly I believe I can fly See I was on the verge of breaking down Sometimes silence can seem so loud There are miracles in life I must achieve But first I know it starts inside of me, oh If I can see it, then I can do it If I just believe it, there's nothing to it [Repeat 1] Hey, cuz I believe in me, oh If I can see it, then I can be it If I just believe it, there's nothing to it [Repeat 1] Hey, if I just spread my wings I can fly I can fly I can fly, hey If I just spread my wings I can fly Fly-eye-eyeNina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? ACMESkydiver 0 #2 May 30, 2007 I like that song, too. I use it to encourage me to GET OFF MY ASS!!! I gotta go running. Back later. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

sartre 0 #5 May 30, 2007 I did-I filled my mp3 player with songs that get me rocking and when I was scared stiff on the walk to the dz, I'd crank them up. Now when I listen to them, I get a happy reminder of those crisp mornings in AZ when I was pounding in every jump of my AFF. A few were ones that I have to give Squeak credit for-he sent them to me and I still use them when I need to get hyped up. One is called "Crazy Bitch" and tho the lyrics aren't really what one would call motivational, there's just something about that song that I freaking love!!!!!! It's great when I'm doing cardio. boinky 0 #7 May 30, 2007 Sometimes it's not about the lyrics, but about the jamz! Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? (RIP Buzz) Yep, you're a postwhore-billyvance
boinky 0 #8 May 30, 2007 Well, in training, I had a great "door fear." I did tandem progression where they just sort of rolled me out the door. I used to tell them to just get me out the door and I'd do fine. And yes, sadly there is a video of me at my old dz where I froze outside the door on my very first AFF climbout. I was holding on, but my mind was completely blank as to what to do next. You can see the instructor bodily do the up, down and then nods his head a couple of times towards the sky. So where the song talks about picturing myself running out the door was pretty fitting for me. Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? cocheese 0 #9 May 30, 2007 It was the summer of 1987 and the song "Jump" by VanHalen was playing on the radio when we pulled into the parking lot of the dz for our first jump. That was cool. Don't think my spirits were ever flagging back then.
CSpenceFLY 1 #10 May 30, 2007 I hope you know how proud I am of all of the things you have accomplished. Honestly I never thought I would ever see you again after your first tandem. I miss the excitement of you and people like you.
