GANFAX 0 #1 August 27, 2006 I'm thinking of buying a used rig with a sabre 170 main. I've heard from a friend they have a reputation for hard openings. Is this true or just bad info. I need to know before purchasing the rig. thanks, Jeff
porterhouse 0 #2 August 27, 2006 The original Sabre's did have a problem with hard opening, but from what I understand it was fixed by adding a larger slider.

bob.dino 1 #4 August 27, 2006 Click on the Search Posts link near the top of this page and search on "Sabre hard opening". You'll find plenty of opinions on both sides of the fence.
za_skydiver 0 #5 August 27, 2006 dude, i have a sabre, and if you quarter the slider properly (if you dont know how, ask someone who does), and roll that tail a lot (again ask someone how not to roll the lines into it) That way I have no problems with my sabre. Its just my opinion of doing things, but maybe you can add a larger slider if the problems persist like porterhouse said Blue Skies PhielixSome dream of flying, i live the dream... Travman 6 #6 August 28, 2006 I've done 140 jumps on my sabre 170 without a hard opening. I pyscho pack mine, always have and it works for me. I am always very careful with my slider. But yes the do have a reputation for hard openings.
SpecialKaye 0 #7 August 28, 2006 I totally agree here. I make sure I 1/4 my slider and roll the tail to the A lines and haven't had any problems. I would be curious of your wingloading...the lighter the wingload, the less likely of any hard opening issues. I love my Sabre 170, have had it since 1997 and haven't had any problems with the openings. Blue skies, Kaye
GANFAX 0 #8 August 28, 2006 I'm 145 lbs. I imagine that's not much wing loading for a Sabre 170. I'm new to this sport. Started last year with my AFF and "A" license. Now looking for a starter rig. Thanks for your reply.
