lisamariewillbe 1 #1 August 25, 2006 Is this able to be done on my own or do I have to go somewhere to get measured? Im ordering it from a dealer that is in colorado and well I am in Texas. Any tips on taking the measurements? lisamariewillbe 1 #9 August 25, 2006 The dealer I am using isnt local, I was thinking a local dealer wouldnt want to measure me for a suit that Im not getting from them. Maybe if I pay to be measured. Should be going to the DZ this weekend, will see if it can be done.Sudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this Sudsy Fist: but you're looking damn sudsydoable in this
matthewcline 0 #10 August 25, 2006 I am not local but would volunteer to measure you, two or three times. In texas wasn't there a few ladies who have hot bod suits? They could help. You could even talk to Bev as you do measurments at the DZ or the house then send it to the dealer (if you don't go direct that is).An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

riggerrob 643 #12 August 25, 2006 Alternatively, you could ask a tailor or seamstress to measure you, because they understand the process far better than any skydiver. Trivia: when I worked at Rigging Innovations, half (2.5 percent) of the ill-fitting harnesses (5 percent of total production) were the result of customers measuring themselves and "inventing" new measuring methods during the process. If you are measured by anyone other than a parachute dealer, make damn sure that you have the correct order form in hand and fill it out using their measuring method. Hint: using an Aerodyne order form while being measured for a Racer is worse than a waste of time, because every harness manufacturer uses a slightly different measuring method. BIGUN 1,485 #13 August 25, 2006 It's not unusual for a local rigger to do the measurements.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
rehmwa 2 #14 August 25, 2006 Someone else (a friend) can measure you. Don't hire someone. Check your tape measure against a solid ruler to see if it's shrunk or stretched.!! Have the dealer's phone number right there and have them walk your friend through it so she understands it exactly. Sorry about Kim not getting to you, that was on the to do list for next month. She has a ton of business and just barely keeping up with the quick turnaround, so hasn't moved to mail order yet. Still, I'll send the website when it gets up and running. ... rehmwa 2 #15 August 25, 2006 QuoteSomeone else should measure you. Here is a good post explaining the whys and hows. when my wife made her order forms and asked me to comment, I was as purposely obtuse as possible - she was REALLY pissed at me. Until she asked others to just read the thing and then show her how they'd measure it and with 4 people, you get 4 different measurements (some don't matter, a little extra torso length isn't a big deal but too short is, so most suits seem to have a bit of margin there, but some are absolutely critical - inseam pretty well sets how tight your booties are) - and her first order form had the same descriptions essentially as any of the top suitbuilders. I think pictures are worth more than a word description if one could put it on the websites. a good builder will appreciate getting the measurements right the first time - rebuilds suck for everybody - and it's rarely the builder's fault if they have good pattern making ability. ... masterrig 1 #16 August 25, 2006 I can't reach that far otherwise... Seriously, get someone to help you. Follow the instructions for measuring on the order form. Take measurements TWICE! Wear what you would normally wear under a jumpsuit. Chuck
