Infected computer

Maybe someone can help me. I inadvertantly downloaded an ActiveX control and now I can't get rid of it.

Things I've already done...

1. Found the files on the drive but it won't let me delete them

2. Run a couple of anti-spyware programs but it doesn't find it.

3. Ran MSCONFIG and turned off all of the programs that run at startup.

It's extremely annoying. It's from a company called SPyLock http://www.spylocked.com/?aff=321

Any help would be appreciated

Get the free version of AdAware. Works well for getting rid of spyware.

If after running it, the spyware is still there try running AdAware again in Safe Mode. (Hit F8 on bootup and select it from the menu)

Try booting into safe mode then doing the things that you tried before.

That damned M$ Windows virus is very persistent. I finally got it removed from my Mother's computer and now she's very happily running Ubuntu. If my mother can run Linux anyone can.

Remember to turn off System Restore before removing, as well, or it might come back again.
