katiebear21 0 #27 May 9, 2003 Dave - we talked about this at the Eloy boogie! I went home and looked up the various awards and was surprised to see all the different awards. I know after I did my first 2 point 10-way (as planned) that the experienced jumpers mentioned after we landed to make sure we get one of them to sign our jump logs! I don't think we do quarterly awards or anything but I think that would be kind of cool... gives a pretty damn good excuse for a party too (like we need one)! dgskydive 0 #31 May 9, 2003 It does seem like the awards are not as important anymore. I just hope they pick back up, cause I want to get some pay back for all the pies I have had to take. Getting pied sucks the worst because you smell like sour milk from the whip cream!Dom
Beerlight 0 #32 May 10, 2003 Quote The ceremony involves kneeling (usually in the peas) and letting the other people at the DZ who have an SCR or SCS pour ICE COLD beer all over you while you grovel, they give a speech, etc. You have to buy the beer of course, at least one case. It is SOOOO cold and they stuff the cans up your shirt and all kinds of stuff. You are supposed to keep all the empty cans and take them home but I don't think anybody does that! I hope traditions like these don't fall by the wayside...keep the old-timers jumping! Sis Sis is all over it...Yes, keep the traditions alive....And you take your empty cans (your trophies) home and put them on your mantle....And what if you don't have a mantle??!! YOU BUILD A MANTLE!! It's a Texas thing.........
efs4ever 3 #33 June 7, 2007 Just a little loop here QuoteThey are formation skydiving achievements (don't have anything to do with USPA) involving 8-way or larger star formations. For an SCR you have to lay base for the formation and for the SCS you have to fly in 8th position or later (usually last). SCS is harder to get... Its a memorial thing for the first guy to organize a star formation, back then they didn't do large contact dives like now. He and the other seven people on the load all bounced, from what I understand. You can get your SCR and your SCS in the same jump or separately.
