orionplumbing 0 #1 August 20, 2006 I am 5'11" and 210 and will soon start AFF /A license jumps. I would like to buy a used rig to start with and could use advice on main canopy size. Thanks in advance- David
NWFlyer 2 #2 August 20, 2006 If you haven't even started your student program, I'd say you really don't need to worry about buying gear yet. Your student jumps will include gear rental, and your instructors will put you on a student canopy that is apprpopriate for your size and weight. Once you have a few jumps under your belt, they can help you assess your skills to determine the right canopy for you. That said, you may find some of these articles helpful to give you some food for thought; but rest easy, you don't need to be worrying about gear quite yet. The articles by Lisa Briggs are focused on helping newer jumpers choose gear. http://www.dropzone.com/safety/Gear_and_Equipment/index.shtml"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please.
