btvr 0 #1 August 20, 2006 Has anyone ever heard about replacing certain cells in their canopy to replace some colors they didn't like? I was wondering if it is even feasible. I'm very happy with the size and flight of my triathlon 210, but I never did like the"pink" cells in it! It's the stock color pattern #2. I bought it because it was my first canopy and it was brand new and got an unbelievable deal on it. But here about a hundred jumps later on it, the color is getting to me. I really have no desire to downsize or switch to a different canopy brand except maybe to demo a spectre. I can't seem to find on performance designs web site about demoing a spectre. thanks in advance. Look forward to all and any replies...
NWFlyer 2 #2 August 20, 2006 I think (but I'll leave it to the experts) that the cost of replacing a cell would probably be high enough that you're better off selling the canopy with the "offending" colors and buying another one (new or used) that has colors that work for you. Here's the info on the demo program at PD: http://www.performancedesigns.com/demos.asp. (Shameless plug alert: if you do decide you like the Spectre and want a 230 I have one in the classifieds that has very non-offensive colors )"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. dragon2 2 #3 August 20, 2006 I know of canopies where the middle cell was replaced, as this is usually the first cell that's worn (from packing). It was apperantly worth it for stiletto's with 1000-2000 jumps So yeah it can be done, not sure if Aerodyne does it though. and buying another Tri might be cheaper (but chances are you end up with pink cells again...) ciel bleu, Saskia
Elisha 1 #4 August 20, 2006 I love the pink cell in my new(er) canopy. It is just a bit of pink though to go with the dark and light blue cells....more intersting the the plain green with orange ribs of my older, larger sabre.
PhreeZone 20 #5 August 21, 2006 Cell replacement for repair reasons I've seen run $150+ for just top skin replacement. Full cell would probally $250+ or higher. Sell it and by a different canopy if the color is bothering you. A funner option is to jump it enough that you wear it out and retire it... in about 1500 jumps and a few line sets Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
