Gawain 0 #1 May 20, 2007 What a week!! So, here's the breakdown of the past week's worth of jumping: FIRST cutaway FIRST ride on a Fury 220 (reserve canopy) FIRST jump out of a C-47 (aka DC-3) FIRST jump out of a CH-47 Chinook FIRST jump over Campbell Army Airfield as a DZ FIRST open field DEMO jump I read this as five cases of beer, and a bottle for the rigger(s) involved with saving my @ss with the reserve ride. So, aside from some jealousy you may feel, remember, this is for prosperity, your beer tabulation is important to me. As for the cutaway, it was a normal feeling opening, but two lines snapped (a and b sets from the inside of cells one and two). Fortunately it was a StarTrac 2, and I was at 2000 feet, so I didn't have to use super-speed emergency procedures. We've got the canopy hanging in our rigging bay, we're looking at it. So far, we're perplexed, but all-in-all, not too worried, as everything else worked (I also had a stellar landing under the reserve). Anyway, back to the beer... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! matthewcline 0 #12 May 21, 2007 2 riggers packed your rig. First time the Rig had a cut away, first time my (now your)canopy ever behaved badly. Oh hell its 5 and 2 bottles. You did good this week, way to go. MatAn Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
gonzalesna 1 #13 May 22, 2007 Just remember you'll owe beer the next time you jump there... first time jumping there with a day without use of the reserve Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.
matthewcline 0 #14 May 23, 2007 Is this gonna be the perpetual "Max owes Beer" thread? If so add 1 more. And oops I did mess up the 2 bottles comment. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Matt Oh, and we'll just add the "first tandem" too, helping Vern get his TI. OH!! And HOLY SH*T PEOPLE: If you've never done a tandem, and you choose to do one after several hundred jumps by yourself (I started AFF)...be prepared to be freaked!! WHOA!!! When that trap door hits...and you know you're not wearing a rig!!
