Someone is selling my rig on Ebay! Bidders Beware!

Recommended Posts

Imagine my surprise when I saw pictures of my rig on Ebay! Even has the cute little bumble bee sticker on the helmet.

Someone has shamelessly reposted a rig I bought on Ebay last year. If any of you are considering bidding on it, beware. Another scam brought to you by EBAY.

So what's the problem? Was the rig stolen? Or are you just upset that someone else is selling it again? If it's stolen, then alerting ebay and the seller is not the way to go if you want to catch him. Set up the deal, get as much info as you can, then go to the police and let them arrest the scumbag.

think you can get all that accomplished it about 24 hours. That is when the auction ends.

Yeah, I alerted Ebay. The problem is scammers use 3 day auctions, and Ebay rarely reacts that fast. Someone may still get caught in the auction before Ebay removes the listing. I was able to provide them with the original item number yesterday, and they may get it down in time.

Replying to someone's post further down, I'm not upset at all, just trying to warn any innocents away from the rig. It is not stolen, I bought it from the original posting of this ad at the end of last year and still have it. I just recognized the pirctures and description as being an exact word-for-word repost of the auction when I bought it.

Again, scammers do this. They watch for a popular item that sells well, copy all of the info and pics from it, and then repost it under a hijacked or falsified account later. I see two or three of these a month that I remember well enough to believe that they are a scam, but since I actually own this one, I can state with authority that it is a scam.

It would be funny if someone wasn't in danger of getting fucked out of their money.

USED TO BE, you could contact the bidders to warn them, but EBAY has taken that possibility away with the blind bidding process.

Quite right! You'd have to be able to get a contact address, even a phone number if you win the auction. Then let the cops do their work. I wonder if this would be an FBI job, if beyond your state borders. Do such scammers have a way of avoiding capture for a buyer that is already tipped off? Of course it would be easier to get away with it if the buyer isn't aware, but I would think it would be easy to nab them with prior knowledge.

Too bad it isn't a case of catching someone selling stolen gear.

it's taken care of. Being a powerseller i got a toll free support line and they are taking care of it. No one is going to get ripped off unless they send money to the guy without winning the auction before all bidders are notified pf the scam

I think it would be fair play for a bunch of us to bid on this thing so the amount goes through the roof. Let this bastard get his hopes up thinking that he will make a killing.>:(

50 donations so far. Give it a try.

You know you want to spank it
