waltappel 1 #1 June 23, 2007 Continuing in the same vein as the other thread about whether degreed women are less likely to be drama queens, the same friend who told me that also warned me against ever daiting a woman who was a waitress. Huh?!!!!! Her reasoning is that many waitresses get higher tips by being somewhat manipulative and putting on an act, so they are more likely to be manipulative and "users" in their relationships. I've never dated a waitress and it sounded kind of far-fetched to me. What do you think? What about tittie dancers? edited to add: Damn! I screwed up on the choices! You can figure it out. The 3rd and 4th choices are for guys! Walt

Stewie 0 #6 June 23, 2007 Disclaimer: I am still clueless when it comes to women. I dated three waitresses in college and they were all great. Most women know that they can manipulate men to do many things. If a woman chooses to exclusively rely on tears, flirting, etc. to get what she wants in a relationship it's probably an indication of how they were raised rather than their job. I suppose at a younger age a job that rewards manipulation could influence their behavior later on, though. Can't help you on the strippers, even though they are real people too. PLFXpert 0 #11 June 23, 2007 This one's not so good, Walt. I like your first question better. I had friends that made awesome money waitressing. I did it for a total of three months in my entire life--my only restaurant experience. Alas, I discovered, I'm not really one that likes to cater to people.I got "yelled at" (except he was laughing too hard) by my manager for telling a completely unreasonable-about-everything-under-the-sun woman who also happened to find a ladybug in her salad she should be grateful for the luck that was just bestowed upon her. It wasn't even what I might have said had I not been trying to be polite. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
JoeBobinNC 0 #12 June 23, 2007 Waitresses and bartenders tend to be a lot of fun. Two groups I've found that should be avoided are public school teachers and nurses. It doesn't matter if a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.
caress 0 #13 June 23, 2007 How do you like it served Walt? I was a waitress at one time and I serve it well. Waitresses are just as tired as anyone else and is a normal healthy human being. They get alot of health issues later but who doesnt? Give waitresses a good healthy helping just as you would any other lady silly. I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right.

Hey, I ain't knockin' waitresses, or *anyone* who deals with the public!!!! I know it's tough and I treat them with respect. I just thought my friend's comment was an odd one. Krip 2 #16 June 24, 2007 We had lunch the other day at the local joint and our waitress was 6'1" taLL (we asked)We gave the nice lady a 20% ($4) tip for good service and told her we wanted to tip her $1/ft, but were to careful with our money (cheap). She laughed and said no problemo Good service ok tip, taLL waitress and good service same tip. JoeBobinNC 0 #17 June 24, 2007 I don't know much about Murses, but the chicks I've dated that were nurses were just mean. I think its a combination of the long hours, having to take shit from the doctors, and still show compassion for a bunch of total strangers on a daily basis. The teachers seemed to always be lost and looking for something. All of them hated their jobs. Its always seemed they just couldn't come up with a better idea for a career, so they picked teaching. hobie331 0 #22 June 24, 2007 Only if her name is Flo. S**t, I think I just dated myself. When I was pursuing my higher education(read into that what you will) I had a friend that worked in a very high class restaurant. He was buying his home, had nice cars and his wife was able to stay at home and take care of their kids. So, if she's making that kind of money, grab on, it'll leave you more money for jumps. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.

Royd 0 #24 June 24, 2007 QuoteHer reasoning is that many waitresses get higher tips by being somewhat manipulative and putting on an act, so they are more likely to be manipulative and "users" in their relationshipsHere in the south, it's common for a waitress that you've never seen before, to call you honey, darlling, baby, or sweetie. It makes me want to throw tip money at them just for being kind. Maybe I'm just a sucker for a sweet southern drawl.
