PhreeZone 20 #1 June 26, 2007 Anyone have any hot sources for cheaply printing 8"*10" photos? I'd like to print out about 20-25 photos but at the $7 Wal-Mart wants its too rich for my blood. Internet sites or local stores would work. Also if you know of any cheap photo frames that would rock too. JENNR8R 0 #3 June 26, 2007 I bought 100 sheets of Glossy Photo Paper from Costco for about $20 and print them on my color printer. They look just as good as the ones prepared at the store. What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy ones? -- Monday. mnealtx 0 #4 June 26, 2007 Mpix seems to be pretty popular with several of the 'pro' photogs that I chat with on another board. If I recall correctly, you can download mpixs' ICC profile for soft-proofing your pics, as well... I don't have any info about membership cost, though - sorry! Kodak E-surface paper is 1.99 for an 8x10 (up to 10 copies).Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706

Is my printer just not good or what? I have the printer that came free with the puter so i'm sure it's a cheapo. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! TangoCharlie77 0 #6 June 26, 2007 I'm not sure how cheap you want to go, but you can upload your photos to www.kodakgallery.com and they will print them for you. I just checked and 8x10 is 3.99 each copy. They will send to your house if you like.
mnealtx 0 #7 June 26, 2007 Sunny...there's so MUCH that goes into printing out a pic from a computer, you wouldn't believe it! To be perfectly honest, it can be less hassle to take it down to Walmart or a local photo lab... A couple things to try (your printer may not have these exact settings, but *should* have something similar)- 1. If your printer will take a photo color cartridge, absolutely get it. 2. When you go to print the photo, go into the advanced settings and try a couple different settings - first run let the printer manage the color, second run, let the application manage the color. 3. Go the manufacturer's website for the photo paper that you're using and try to get the ICC profile for the paper. Download the profile to your desktop, right click it and select 'install'. You should be able to pull up some advanced options for paper type after that.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706

For some reason it makes better photos than the expensive laser color printer at my office. What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy ones? -- Monday. Icon134 0 #15 June 26, 2007 if your are satisfied with Matte 8x10s Meijer's online photo center is $2.49 a print. I generally upload my photos from home... pay for them online and they usually have them ready for me the same day. I think some of the locations can actually print Glossy photos for 2.50 a print. fasterfaller 0 #16 June 26, 2007 Costco . $1.50 a 8x10 . Printer profiles for all Costco printers is found here http://www.drycreekphoto.com/ . Download the profile and convert to the profile in Photoshop and when ordering prints turn off color management and you get dead nuts on prints every time . Profiles change every six months so keep them updated and you are good to go . A lot of the big money pros use Costco for contact sheets .
PhreeZone 20 #17 June 26, 2007 I'd love to use Costco but you have to be a member and the nearest one is 45 minutes away. With gas prices its better to just pay for the printing at Walmart vs Costco for me. Scott, thanks for Meijer, I forgot about them as an option. pilotdave 0 #18 June 27, 2007 I'd second EZPrints. Smugmug uses them for all their prints. I've ordered a few and the quality is great. You can read all about how smugmug chose EZPrints at http://www.smugmug.com/prints/digital-prints.mg. Dave
