strange side effects

What strange side effects do you get/have you gotten from prescription medications?

Vicodin makes my nose itch. Every time. And I can't figure out why.

Ritalin makes my head tingle like it did when I used to do speed. Kinda makes sense though, since Ritalin is speed...

Vicodin expert here. Its the codeine...Lisa...you have a small allergy to the opiates. It makes my face itch like a sonofagun. My alternatives are Oxycontin or methadone. I'll stick with the Vic.

Well, there was that one time that I found myself in the parking lot of a nursing home, petting an oil spot on the ground that I thought was my best friend's cat.

Oh wait, maybe those meds weren't prescribed... well, not by a doctor anyway.

What codeine are you talking about? Vicodin is hydrocodone, and my understanding is that it's more similar to oxycodone than codeine. Methadone is totally different and I absolutely agree with you. It made me nauseous and didn't really reduce the pain so much as make me care less about it. I hope I'm never in a position again where it's considered a good option.

Hydrocodone or dihydrocodeinone (marketed as Vicodin, Anexsia, Dicodid, Hycodan (or generically Hydromet), Hycomine, Lorcet, Lortab, Norco, Novahistex, Hydroco, Tussionex, Vicoprofen, Xodol) is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from two of the naturally occurring opiates, codeine and thebaine.

Hmm... that explains why my nose itches when I take a Norco or a Lortab too. :D

At one point they had me on high doses of Percodan. I would wake up in the am all scratched up. It made me itch so badly than I had scratched all nite. I did sleep though. ;)

Chronic pain,so on oxycotin, and for breakthrough pain oxcodone IR.
Mosr people got drowsy on them,me I feel like I'm on speed.
Muscle relaxer called Baclofen, all othe muscler relaxers put me OUT,groggy even throughout next day. Thoses super speed me up,and get me so horny I can go and go. Wife say I'm like the Energiser Bunny. Makes me slight manic also.

I guess the only side effects I can think of right now are vomitting on percocet (B|) and my sinuses felt like I snorted a bottle of tabasco when I took one particular type of migraine med (I think it was called Zomig?)

Clay,This is very true.It was a major concern of mine I dicussed with my pain specialist at the start.
When I first began the regimem,I would not drive, but as I "got used to it" the drowsy and other side effects became less pronouced. I have to admit now I do drive, with MD's permission, but because of slowed reaction time I have changed my habits & limited the amt.of driving I do.
I take it as perscibed and should I take it after a night of lack of sleep,I'm no were near a motor vehicle(passenger only) Thanks for the reminder
