jjiimmyyt 0 #3 July 30, 2006 Aerodyne say a 175 is the largest acceptable, I've got a 188 in my I6 and that feels about right. "This isn't an iron lung, people. You can actually disconnect and not die." -Dave
kaerodyne 0 #4 July 30, 2006 Pela, Go take a look at our specs on our website. http://flyaerodyne.com/fly/products/iconSizes.asp The I5 will not fit your Pilot 188 in very comfy.
Fab 0 #5 July 30, 2006 Packing a pilot 168 in an I5 was already so much fun when it was brand new. I don't think you will enjoy packing an 188 _______________________________________

Pela, You will find all sorts of people who will give advise about gear, but this is the manufacture speaking. Who do you think is right? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
mjosparky 4 #8 July 31, 2006 Quoteyep Do you think you are in a position to advise on gear compatibility? This is not the first time you have been less than right. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
packing_jarrett 0 #9 July 31, 2006 well the person asked me if a 188 can work with an I-5. I bet I can pack a pilot 188 into an I-5 easily! edit: If the original poster can't pack it maybe or maybe not I bet an experienced packer can do it no problem. I think manuf. lean toward the high side. The reason I say this is because a dude came through with an st135 in a I2. I looked at the website and it should be for and 14! how does this work?Na' Cho' Cheese

They didn't ask if you could do it, read more closely next time. I know a few packers that could probably fit my 200sq ft Firebolt into a container designed for a Spectre 150, but that doesn't mean it'd be possible for most people, not cause excess wear on the container, or even be safe. riggerrob 643 #11 July 31, 2006 Go for it! Prove how much of a man you are! Then next year I can charge lots of money to replace cracked plastic stiffeners, loose grommets and torn Cordura. BWWWAHHAHAHAHAHA! [evil laughter]

masterrig 1 #13 August 1, 2006 When you start to exceed the manufacturer's specs for their container, you're asking for trouble. Forcing a canopy that is too large for a container only increases the stress on that container. In riggerrob's response, he makes a good deal os sense. After all, it's Nylon fabric... not cast-iron. Not to mention the stiffeners and grommets. Chuck
mjosparky 4 #14 August 1, 2006 QuoteI bet an experienced packer can do it no problem. And I would bet an experienced & knowledgeable packer would not try. QuoteI think manuf. lean toward the high side. And I think the manufacture leans toward what they found out during repeated testing when designing the rig.My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
