With all the rigs out there like this http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=50733;d=1 and this is NOT the only one I have seen, there is no reason that a person couldn't build a good safe used rig to jump for cheap.

Hell I could build two or three rigs out of parts in the loft of gear that was given away to the dz as junk.
Yes, it may not be the hot cool fashion of the day, but it would be safe to skydive with, too many jumpers these days are so quick to blow off or talk shit about older gear, god for bid you might have to learn to fly on your belly and try to have fun.

Sorry, but I don't feel sorry for you cry babies, lots of rigs around for less then a grand.

Amen, brutha, lots of cheap, safe gear out there. I just cleaned out my closets and sold 3 containers, from $100 to $600.

Leap for Lupus is also selling raffle tickets to win 1/2 off a new Infinity or half off a new Wings container. Go to LeapforLupus.org and check it out, or PM me and I can handle it snail mail.

To me, I was the 'coolest' with my first rig! It was a used, Classiflier, black with rainbow stripes and red harness! Converted to 3-Ring, 26' - Navy Conical with 4-line release. I stuck a brand new Maverone in it... that was the best! The harness-container and reserve was a 'gift' and I think, I paid about 5 - 6 hundred for the main.

It's quite a jolt at first. Haven't sold a rig since the last time I left the sport in 1982, but even then it was hard.

The rig I have now is a real beauty, a used rig that was cared for like a child by the previous owner. I'm not considering selling it anytime soon, but I do have a daughter we're sending off to college, so one never knows. I'd sell it if I had to .

Bottom line is that a rig is after all just a rig. When the time is right you can always find another one and maybe even one you like even better.

Maybe you need to get drunk and cry about it with a girlfriend, that would be alright too.

I would NEVER sell my rig. I did, however, part out my first rig. Sold the contianer, a Vector ll, to a guy in Brazil. Sold the main, a PD210, to the dzo of Skydive Missouri, who put it in a rig and sold to a guy who jumps there. Good to see the canopy back in the air. However, I still have the non-collapsible pc and the reserve, a Swift 180, that are just sitting uselessly in a box. As far as I know, I am the only one who has flown the reserve. It's like brand new. I'll let it go for $250.00 and shipping cost.

well if Chris goes back to the state you can be a stand up guy and make her a cheap rig.

Well in fact I would be happy to help anyone get hooked up with a good used rig for cheap. There are a few people on here who know me and would tell you the same. In fact I helped broker a deal not long ago that was posted on here, for $600.00 and it was a complete rig.

A 1989 sweethog with the late 90's up grades (read cypres ready), PD 170 main, Mirco raven 150 all built in 89 and 100 jumps or less closet queen. When the rig showed up it all looked brand new and made a hell of a deal for a girl for her first rig.

BTW she wasn't being a crybaby about it.

That is pointed at more then one person, not anyone person per-say. I say this because as life changes I have and may again have to sell my rigs, that is the ones worth real money, I can always jump my rounds, or if I need to jump a square there is more then one loft owner I could ask to give me for FREE the parts I need to get in the air, I have no doubt I could build more then one rig out of parts and there is at least 6 to 8 other rigs I know of complete no one will ever jump or buy again, and those are sitting going to waste, rotting away over time. There is nothing wrong or unairworthy with them other then the fact that their old and maybe ugly as sin, but after all @ 1.5 K who really cares how pretty you look!
