virgin-burner 1 #52 July 7, 2007 my first bike was bright orange, had high bars and foot brakes. are banana seats the long ones? if so, mine was that way. when we moved it got stolen after some time,it got found again, but was a complete wreck. i was in tears.. funny story: in my neighbourhood there were not to many kids. so i had to go to them. my mother used to drive in circles going bigger from our house, to find the orange spot in some garden to find me.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Royd 0 #53 July 7, 2007 Mine was a used three speed English Racer that my dad bought for my 6th BD. It was very cool! I had to ride it through the frame for a little while, until I grew into it.

flygirl1 0 #57 July 7, 2007 I had a few bikes when I was little but, the one I remember the most was a yellow BMX bike that my older brother gave me when he out grew it. I loved that bike cause it reminded me of my brother who was a lot older then me and was living in another state. I rode it every where until I out grew it and started skateboarding.Fly like a girl

freethefly 6 #60 July 7, 2007 My first bike was a Foremost minibike with a 5hp Brigg and Stratton in 1965. I was 5yo. Next came a Suzuki 80 in 1968 and then a Hodaka 100 Super Rat scramble bike in 1970. I bought my first bicycle in 1971 with money I made mowing yards for Judge Carlos Baker in Lemoore, Calif.. It was a bright metalflake green Huffy stingray with apehangers, cheater slick in the rear, a mini wheel up front, a banana seat with a sissy bar, front and rear hand brakes and the coolest thing was the 3 speed shifter mounted on the frame. skydiver30960 0 #62 July 7, 2007 I still HAVE my first bicycle, well... I still have my first tricycle at least. It was always special to me and my mom because putting it together was one of the last things my grandfather (her dad) did for me before he passed away. It has been with me ever since, never quite making it out to the curb or garage sale. I don't plan on having any kids to pass it on to, and I really don't think it'd be safe enough to let anyone else's kids have it, but I figure I'll hold onto it for a while longer... birdlike 0 #73 July 7, 2007 Quote Mine had a really ugly basket in front. Mine too!! With plastic flowers on it!! Just kidding. My first bike was made by AMF, actually. It was pretty cool, I guess. Soon after I got it, everyone started getting BMX bikes. I remember seeing my first BMX bike, it belonged to this kid named Kyle. It was a Team Murray, colored gold and silver. I remember that it looked ridiculous to me at the time; since it had no fenders, it looked longer than regular kids' bikes even though it wasn't. My bike was stolen from outside a stationery store, and I ended up getting a Huffy BMX bike.Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
sharimcm 0 #74 July 7, 2007 My first bike was a hand-me-down from my sister. It was yellow with a pink stripe down the side of it... It had a white banana seat, but no basket. When my dad took the training wheels off, the first thing I did was fall in to a pile of fire ants. I ran back to the house frantic and crying... My mom took me out on the back porch, ripped my ant-filled clothes off and sprayed me down with a garden hose. It took me a few months before I had enough nerve to get back on it. I guess I wanted to make sure the fire ants were gone... birdlike 0 #75 July 8, 2007 Well, now that you mention hand-me-downs; technically, my first bike was this girlie-thing that had belonged to both of my sisters. That's what my dad taught me to ride on. It had a long banana seat and a huge sissy-bar on the back. That made it easy for Dad to hold on and stabilize me. We went to the sidewalk across the street from our house, and he jogged alongside me holding the bike up, until I got the feel of pedaling and balancing. (It's gotta be pretty easy for an adult to run alongside a kid on a bike that small who's just learning.) I never had training wheels. I don't believe in them. I think they're stupid. We spent I dunno how long out there, probably under an hour. I came away from it knowing how to ride a bike.Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
