ltdiver 3 #1 July 8, 2007 Had fun reading what summer veggies you are all growing this year in your garden! My tomatos are pleatiful, but not yet ripe. Alot of cucumbers have graced my salads already, but the red peppers are just now starting to show. It'll be some time before they turn their proper color. Just planted some more flowers last sunday in my backyard. They're still rooting, but the flowers are still there from their original bloom. Day Lillies (yellow and red), Peonies, Mexican Heather, Japanese Blood Grass, Star Jasmine, Vanilla Symphony, Calibrichoa, and Snowflake. (the last 2 are in the wishing well planter). I woke this morning to the very first Morning Glories blooming (planted them from seed a couple of months ago). The perenials are blooming like crazy now! Jacob's Ladder. Potato Vine. Mini-Roses (Child's Play and another one I can't remember the variety). Garlic flowers, Blue Star Creeper, and Blue Bird. Lily of the Nile's just now starting to bloom. Crepe Myrtle (tree) is blooming like crazy! A few annuals are holding strong in the heat. Marigolds, and Peonies are very pretty. Spring flowers are about done. Iris, Calla Lilies, Tiger Lillies, Bottle Brush (bush-like). Camelias are just starting to bud. Flowers to come in another few weeks. (Pictures taken with my cell phone so please forgive.) So, what flowers are blooming at your house this summer? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Shell666 0 #7 July 8, 2007 Nice pics. I have Lemon Symphony and Zinnia's in pots on my deck. I inadvertently planted Teko in my neighbour's window box. It doesn't do well in the rain but it sure likes the sun. 'Shell

ltdiver 3 #10 July 8, 2007 Quote I inadvertently planted Teko in my neighbour's window box. It doesn't do well in the rain but it sure likes the sun. Oh, those are weeds from -my- neighbor's house that keep blowing over here. They seem to like to plant their 'seeds' in my newly turned up flower bed. My old dog just doesn't get the pleasure she used to in keeping those weeds from taking root here anymore. I like looking at them in my neighbor's yard. Heck, even going over and playing with them myself there from time to time. They're lovely, and come in many different varieties. However, they keep growing and growing, and multiply every year. I think she has about 20 varieties at her house now. To quote my (botanist) sister. "A weed is just a plant out of place". But it blows back over here when the weather gets crappy or it's food and water supply aren't up to par over there. This particular variety has also been known to become a house plant variety - in my neighbour's house. It likes spots where it's cool and dark (like my neighbour's son's bedroom in the basement). I believe it's official name is "Neighbourhoodwatch" but I could be wrong. On the up side, this particular variety doesn't appear to plant seeds anywhere but the blue "bin" in my basement ... Shell666 0 #12 July 8, 2007 Quote To quote my (botanist) sister. "A weed is just a plant out of place". I like that. I have a load of weeds in with my tomato plants. I pull the larger ones. Can't be bothered with the smaller ones. Here's the few pots I have on my deck this year. Left to right ... Lemon Balm Pennyroyal in the glass (rooting it to plant more) Zinnia Pennyroyal Lemon Symphony My yard (as small as it is) is strictly raspberry bushes, dill and tomato plants. It's looking very green back there right now. 'Shell
ltdiver 3 #13 July 9, 2007 I like the pot the Zinnia is in! Very pretty. Which reminds me, I have to get my potted plants out of the sun. They're getting sunburned. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

The Lemon Symphony is in the same one. Wally World last year. I think I paid $6 each late in the summer. They're 12" across. Here in Canadia, that's a BARGAIN for a clay pot!!!'Shell
ltdiver 3 #15 July 9, 2007 Was browsing the internet, looking at bulb flowers (seems that these are the hardest to kill, since I lack the green-thumb talent for most plants). My eyes nearly popped out when I saw the price on this white flower. http://www.bluechopsticks.com/product.asp?prodid=9533&fer=4 Think I won't risk it on this one...ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Just grab that photo and when people ask "what are you growing..." put it up there. Very pretty but I'm with you on risking it ... I hardly have a green thumb (unless it comes to weeds and then I'm a 10 digit greenie!). I'll stick to my $0.99 plants. They seem to live long enough for me to enjoy that dollar!!!
