Conundrum 1 #26 July 11, 2007 Quote Quote Do they have any over 500cc sport bikes out there that are ok for short guys? All the bigger sport bikes that I have seen look like they would have me on tippy toes @ 5'7 Drop that frame baby! I looked at a sport bike about 10 years ago, they told me it could be done for about $400 Oh and I am 5'3 Eh, then you start fucking around with the handling. The standard hieght of sportbike seats is about 32". At 5'7" you shouldn't have that much of a problem, unless you have really short legs or something. The best thing to do is go sit on each bike. Some have narrower seats which makes the bike not seem as tall.
squirrel 0 #27 July 11, 2007 Quote Quote Quote Also what about those moped like things that you see on the freeway? Surely those can't power out and they are made for the highway. my point exactly...damn scary to see those things on the hwy. but, you own life is you own responsibility. Why? I guess I don't see the need to do 80+ on the highway. Just be aware of and ride within your machine's limits. its not just the top speed. rather i look at the wheel size and the overall weight. i know on the hwy on my XT550 i get pushed all around by wind and gusts generated from trucks, and i am toped out at 70, which here in california means you get people flying up on your ass, then changing lanes at the last moment, way too close. but on my vmax, 630lbs, 145hp, i am very stable, and can get out of speeders way. I rarely break 75mph, i just like to cruise...maybe because i do all my speeding in the air! ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him? tetra316 0 #28 July 11, 2007 I'm up in Oregon which means we don't have to deal with you California drivers. Or at least not much. Granted I probably wouldn't ride on the highways in SoCal though. And I don't feel like I get pushed around by truck gusts although I do feel it.

tetra316 0 #30 July 11, 2007 On a side note, I rode around with a friend (200+pds) on the back of my bike out in the country. We ended up following a semi for quite a ways. He rides a R6 and races also and he later told me he was surprised by how stable the bike was. And that no matter your bike you will also feel the gusts generated by trucks and such. That made me a little more confident as I was assuming a larger bike would be a lot more stable than my 250. But apparantly it won't be by much. The power will be nice however!
