'Sky Coaster' at the Royal Gorge

Doesn't this look fun? It goes over the gorge...I think that would be a nice view.

My 15 year old niece sent me the link and says she wants to do it but her dad won't let her. She sent it to her Auntie Jaye because she knew I'd want to go with her when she's allowed...

It does look fun! Does it have a cutaway system and can you wear your rig on it!? Can you imagine the look on everyone's face when you left the harness!

Yup. It's fun. I've ridden it a whole bunch of times. I used to be a whitewater raft guide down on the Royal Gorge and when they were in the testing phase on the skycoaster, they figured out that us raft guides would make good test subjects. So we all got to ride it for free a bunch of times before it was offically certified.

By the way, the person who designed the skycoaster is also the same person who designed skyventure wind tunnels.

I agree...its awesome! I love these kinds of rides!!! I considered that my "training" as a kid before I was able to do skydiving.

It wasn't a skycoaster, it was something called "Air Glory" It sounds similar to skycoaster, but by a different manufacturer, and designed to be portable rather then a fixed unit.

Its good times. I screamed more on that than any BASE jump into the canyon, thats for sure

i rode something similar with my nephew at Astroworld a few years ago. fun for what it is- basically just a big swing. if i was there i'd do it, but i wouldn't go there just to do it.

Fortunate was I to be right there at the same time doing the same thing - except i let an apparently inappropriate word fly and was pretty much banned

It would be a lot better if the cliff edge was more vertical - you don't get the feeling that you're being launched off the edge. IMO a swing INTO the gorge would be MUCH better!
