Lindsey 0 #1 March 31, 2007 Yesterday we picked up a new dirt bike for my son. It was his 10th birthday present. He hadn't even ridden it 10 minutes before he left to go to his dad's for the weekend. Last night it was stolen from my carport. I'm so pissed. They could've taken the Harley. They could've taken the 4-wheeler or either of the other 2 dirt bikes in there (well, one belongs to a friend, so I'm glad they didn't take that one). But they had to get his brand-spankin' new Yamaha (yeah bozo....he did have a Suzuki, but it just was too big for him...so yesterday we traded it for the Yamaha). He's gonna be heartbroken. linz-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail
Gravitymaster 0 #2 March 31, 2007 That sucks. Do you think the thief could be someone connected with the seller?
Carpediem 0 #3 March 31, 2007 Ouch. Sorry to hear that. These are the reasons I have to believe in karma. They'll get what's comming to them Those who do, can't explain. Those who don't, can't understand.
Lindsey 0 #4 March 31, 2007 QuoteThat sucks. Do you think the thief could be someone connected with the seller? I'm thinking the thief is probably some hoodlum from around here. The seller is a reputable business 45 miles away. I've been roaming the bad parts of town with my eyes peeled, but I'm thinking it's a wasted effort. I have put out a $500 reward. Folks'll give their friends up for money....lol, and it's a small town. I'm gonna make sure that the word gets out to the kids at the junior high and high school next week that I'll pay 'em to turn in their friends. Who knows. Maybe we'll be lucky.-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail
jceman 1 #5 March 31, 2007 Dang, that sucks! Here's hoping that it gets recovered intact and soon. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

I hope you get the bastard. Have you contacted the Police? A lot of times they have a suspicion of who the crook is or know of someone who might know. If it's a local theif, he won't be able to resist the urge to go out and ride it sometime. If you know where the kids ride off track in the area, I'd check there too. Did you have the bike insured? . skydiver30960 0 #7 March 31, 2007 Remember that it doesn't need to be someone from the "other side of the tracks." A lot of times it could be somebody from nearby in the neighborhood that saw the bike or heard it was coming. I used to work at a bike (i.e. bicycle) shop and whenever we did maintenance work on a bike we'd look up the serial number to see if it matched who brought the bike in. Usually, if the numbers didn't match, it was that the bike had been sold to a third party, but we got quite a few stolen bikes back to their owners that way. A lot of times the bike had been stolen from somebody in the same neighborhood as the new "owner". Lindsey 0 #8 March 31, 2007 Hey Jack!!! How's the weather down there? I could've made several trips to see you for the cost of this one friggin' dirt bike. It does suck, but since I was getting ready to drive to SD Dallas for the day, maybe I avoided serious injury or death by staying home....lol. As the day's gone on, I've just resigned myself to sucking it up and forking out the cash for a new one....ummm another new one. And nope...no insurance on it. But the police (Fordyce's Finest) are all over it. I think they really are putting in an effort. I think I'm gonna get the friend's bike to him today. Wouldn't it suck if they came back for another one tonight????-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. livendive 8 #11 April 1, 2007 Last weekend I went out to where I keep my trailer in the winter to find window & screen busted out and the door wide open. I haven't had time to figure out if there's anything missing, but don't think there was anything real expensive in there anyhow. Still, it's a pain in the ass and gonna cost me at least a couple hundred to fix if I can get a glass company to cut the piece...RV dealership wants over $500 to replace both doors (won't do window only). Anyhow, yeah, thieves suck. I'd like to beat the shit out of whoever thought my belongings and expenditures weren't worth their consideration. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" Lindsey 0 #12 April 1, 2007 I'd like to beat the shit out of whoever thought my belongings and expenditures weren't worth their consideration. YES!!! It's rare for me to r e a l l y feel that way, but this morning when the cop was at my house, I told him that I'd shoot the fucker if I could....well, if I had a gun and if I knew who the fucker was to begin with....lol. (Of course the cop was my little bro's friend growing up, and he probably spent as much time at my house as he did at his own, which prob'ly made it a little easier to spout off like a tough chick or something) But DAYUM!!! JSBIRD 1 #13 April 1, 2007 It might be worth a call to your insurance agent. There exists a possibility because it wasn't an insurable highway vehicle, that it will be covered by your homeowners insurance. I had a bicycle stolen from my parents' garage when i was in High School...the insurance replaced it. Your only concern would be the deductable, and when they start asking q's like "was it locked up?"--a sign they're trying to weasel you down to a percentage thru comparative fault...Illinois needs a CCW Law. keka 0 #21 July 18, 2007 great news! I'm glad they were able to find it. I also hate thieves...... this past weekend, while I was at a boogie, I "lost" my altimeter"...it suddenly created legs and walked away if you know what I mean. I got so mad that I stopped jumping for the weekend. It's incredible that people that usually hangs out with skydivers know how hard it is to most of us to get our jumps and everything else together, being such an expensive sport...and even though, they take stuff away...just like that. since I always leave my gloves and altimeter inside of my helmet, I just realized that I didn't have it on the way to the plane; I have an audible one, but my BF was kind enough to let me borrow his on the way up. sucked. I'm still pissed... oh well... I swear I don't like to wish anyone anything bad... but in this case ... hard not to. well... I guess I'm luck that I can afford to buy another one soon. sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread... just needed to vent a bit http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org PMS#551 I love my life :)

JustChuteMeNow 0 #23 July 18, 2007 Who doesn't hate thieves? Last week at the DZ someone broke into the cafe and stole the money. Unfortunately, we believe it was another skydiver for a variety of reasons. On the plus side, many people pitched in to help cover the loss.Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
