BillyVance 35 #1 July 18, 2007 So after having most of my success at the $3 games, and some payouts at the $5 and $6 games, I decided on a lark to try a $15 one table game. Found myself in a hole early, down to 800 chips. Then doubled up. Along the way, I knocked out 3 players and led all chip stacks for a while. Then there were 4 of us left, including one who had sat out since the beginning. I could not understand why you would get into a $15 game and sit out. He was 2 hands away from getting blinded out when he finally came back with 300 chips left and the blinds at 150/300. He was the small blind and I had the dealers chip, but with a 2 3 offset hand I folded. He doubled up off the big blind. Next hand he pushes all in, we all fold. I had 3 5 offset, not interested. Next hand he goes all in again, we all fold, and I didn't want to play 2 6 offset. What a horrible time to get lousy cards. So there he is, sitting there with over 1000 chips already. Bastard.... Then he goes all in and the other two players call. He wins... and now has 3000+ chips... fucking bastard... I was still the chip leader though with about 4500, and pushed back a few times getting him to fold. Then one of the others got low, down to 1200 and had the big blind at 400. I had pocket 9s and thought I'd push 1200 and see if he'd bite or fold. Turns out the fucker had pocket aces. Ugh. Then from that point on, everything seemed to go against me and everyone got aggressive and I busted out on the bubble... Fuckers.... I hate that asshole who sat out until his last 300 chips and he goes and ruins the game for me. Just two lousy hands away from making at least a $27 payout. Thanatos340 1 #5 July 18, 2007 Billy.. You need to Bully when you gots the chips. All in on Pockets 9`s?? why?? Any hand that calls is either a Coin Flip (Any two Over cards vs a smaller pocket pair is 51% vs 49% to win) or a bigger pair that has you Dominated. Also the shorter the Table (Fewer Players) the more agressive you have to play. Raise or Fold, Calling is almost always the wrong play short handed. I forced the other guy all in, and he just happened to have aces. I was being aggressive as the chip leader and that one bit me. I was still the chip leader after that. I stayed aggressive, but nothing hit. Yes, I know how the game goes... I'm just aggravated because that dude sat out until his last 300 chips and nobody could seem to get him out once he started playing. I have seen one player in a past game get beat bad, down to his last 20 chips early in the game. Well he battled back, got some great cards and 10 minutes later he's the chip leader. I was amazed. I didn't make the payout in that game but I wasn't mad because he was trying to play. Unless you have money to burn, I don't see how you would not be upset to be that close to the payout and get screwed by a sitter, that's all. This was my highest buy in game, so excuse me for being aggravated having come so close and come up empty. Have you seen people sit out for so long at the higher buy in games? What's the point really? Soon as the tournament started, I lost my connection. Call Support to try to explain it.. by the time I got someone on the Phone, There were only 3 people left and I was in the money. While I am talking to the operator, next guy goes out and I in second place. The operator laughs and asks me if I really want my $22 entery fee back or would I rather have the $60 I just won for second? Many top players will not even show up at a Major tournament untill 2 to 3 hours into it. They just get blinded off during that time. Let all the Crazies take each other out and get into serious poker before they show up and get their AA cracked with K-8.You went from Chip leader to Bubble boy. that wasnt because someone was sitting out. If YOU would have sat out.. (Or played fewer hands) you would have made the money and the Blinds would have taken out someone sitting out. This from a Professional Bubble Boy!! Hell, for as many times I've made the payout in a game, I've finished on the bubble too... doug925 0 #9 July 18, 2007 Billy, That does suck. Really bad timing with the 9's too, which sucks even worse. I always play loose at the beginning, and tighten up thru the middle if I can. If I am in a big (200+) tourney then I will sit and wait until I pick up pkt A's, K's, or Q's before I come in. I hate getting my good cards early. I prefer to wait it out until I start getting my rush. (hopefully late in the tourney) So, yeah, while I feel for you, I LOVE being THAT guy! Taikoen 0 #10 July 18, 2007 I'm in a weekly game with some close friends and monthly game with a friend of a friend, and I've noticed the same thing. I always get good hands at the beginning of the night when blinds are nothing. The most I've pulled out of a hand like that is maybe 25% of the starting stack. Then I get stuck with shit for the rest of the night and end up overplaying some combination of J/Q/K/A to lose to someone with a bigger stack who calls with a low pocket pair or just to call and the flop is much nicer to them. I think I need to work on my late game as I almost always end up with the chip lead at the beginning of the game but lose to the really aggressive players later in the game as they slowly bleed me. I call when they have a great hand and fold when they were bluffing. I wish I'd catch great cards when they have nothing instead of the flop always being the opposite of what I needed. The only redeeming quality is that my bets aren't consistent, so no one can read if I have something or not.
